Cersei abruptly left the room then and slammed the door behind her as Robert turned to face Ned, the Quiet Wolf silently observing the Whoremonger King.
"See what she does to me? My loving wife." Robert asked rhetorically, gesturing to himself before he poured himself a glass of wine from the wine pitcher with a sigh.
Ned was silent as Robert picked up his glass and spoke, "I should not have hit her. That was not... That was not kingly." Robert groused as he sat on the edge of Ned's bed and drank from his glass.
"If we don't act... there will be a war." Ned warned Robert, but the Baratheon wasn't backing up the Stark this time.
"So tell your wife to return that little shit of an Imp to King's Landing. She's had her fun, now put an end to it." Robert ordered, but Ned was silent, unable to believe that Robert would stand against him on something else that wasn't the Targaryen matter.
"You hear me? Send a raven and put an end to it." Robert ordered.
"And what about Jaime Lannister? What about Jaime?" Ned asked gruffly. Robert was silent for a bit before he bitterly spat out, "I'm half a kingdom in debt to his bloody father. I don't know what happened between you and those yellow-haired shits. I don't want to know. This is what matters – I can't rule the kingdoms if the Starks and the Lannisters are at each other's throats, so enough." Robert's word was final on the matter as he took another drink of his wine.
Ned looked away as he spoke, "As you command, Your Grace. With your leave... I will return to Winterfell and set matters straight."
Robert shook his head at that and denied it, "Piss on that. Send a raven. I want you to stay. I'm the king. I get what I want." Ned looked at Robert as the man drank.
Even though Robert was the King, he didn't get Lyanna Stark.
With a regretful sigh, the Whoremonger King spoke, "I never loved my brothers. A sad thing for a man to admit, but it's true. You were the brother I chose." Robert's confession stopped Ned short of leaving the city as his own bonds of fellowship with Robert urged him not to leave King's Landing as the King stood.
"We'll talk when I return from the hunt." Robert said as he tossed the badge of the Hand of the King next to Ned, the Lord of Winterfell looking at his King in surprise at the man's need to suddenly hunt.
"The hunt?" Ned asked.
"Killing things clears my head. You'll have to sit on the throne while I'm away." Robert said before he chuckled, "You'll hate it more than I do."
The King walked to the door, but Ned had to ask, "The Targaryen girl..." "Seven Hells! Don't start with her again!" Robert swore at that.
"The girl will die and I will hear no more of it." Robert stated firmly before he pointed at Ned, "Put on the badge, and if you ever take it off again, I swear to the Mother I'll pin the damn thing on Jaime Lannister." Robert warned before he left, closing the door behind him.
Ned slowly took the badge in hand and looked at it, wondering what power did the Hand of the King have when the King himself didn't want to listen to anybody.

Said Targaryen girl held a dragon egg in hand, the candle light illuminating her tent as she turned her eyes towards a pot of coals somewhat speculatively as she slowly walked towards it before bending on her knees before it, her dragon egg in her palms.
Slowly, the daughter of Aerys Targaryen placed the egg onto the burning coals, trying to discern whether the ancient methods of hatching a dragon egg by seeing it on fire were true.
