'Some illusions are nice to live in for a while, I needed this one more than he knew'
☆☆☆
The weather is at it again, acting like its usual bipolar self. Yesterday I had to pull out my jean shorts and cropped shirts, but today I have to pull out my boots and jackets.
Not going to lie, I hope the weather stays this ways. It's my favorite type, when its raining outside and you can hear the pitter patter against the asphalt and when coffee shop booths that overlook large windows are the most comfortable with a hot chocolate in hand. But I've only been here a short while so I'm yet to find out what the weather would change into next.
This summers supposed to be a new change, new home, new school, new step-mother...again.
A while back my dad got a job offer in California and my step-mother jumped at the chance of being a highly exclusive family and managed to persuade dad to move up here.
Originally being from London where it isn't normally this confusing, weather wise I'm assuming it's going to take a while to get used to it, to get used to being away...away from my real mom.
But here I am on a dull Tuesday morning piercing grey eyes focused on my 5'10 frame in the mirror that stood straight with my head up high. My midnight black hair was in a messy top knot and makeup contoured perfectly.
That's how everything was supposed to be in our family...perfect and God forbid the King family is anything less. My father wanted our family to be so perfect, he had sent my older sister Luna and I to finishing school. Luna ended up staying in London to be with Prince Carter, whom she had met during our years in finishing school, claiming it was love at firt sight.
Apparently the Prince felt the same way.
My father always said that coming from a high class family like us you should look and behave like royalty. Neither of his kids listened to him outside of his four walls. We defied the fact we were supposed to only associate overselves with high class people.
I hope a pair of skinny jeans, heeled combat boots and a fur jacket was considered to look like royalty.
My twin brother Paris was a whole different story and loved testing our father, so instead he decided to come home one day with ice blonde hair which was a stark contrast to the rest of our family who all had pure black hair. Needless to say he had to use my car to go places for a week.
My stepmother was helpless and I swear I saw my fathers lips twitch in amusement.
Grabbing my bag and slinging it across my shoulder and shoving my phone and car keys in my pocket I grab one thing that I never leave the house with.
A gold necklace with two names attached to it, the first one being Paris and the second being my name Astrid.
The King household in the morning was dead as ever. Since mom wasn't around the lively morning jive wasn't one that was often found. So instead of sitting around I grab a granola bar and made my way outside.
Today's the first day of Paris and I's senior year in a new school. We made plans that we'd take our own cars and follow each other to school since I wanted to go out and look for a part-time job to keep me busy.
Our little brother Tydus was also starting school with us, only he was a junior.
After waiting on the patio for around five minutes the front door opens again and Paris emerges. His ice blonde hair a mess and identical piercing grey eyes to mine looking around frantically.
