Ms. J was assigning partners for a music contest in class. She told us there'd be pairs-one boy and one girl.
That moment I knew how badly I wanted to be partnered with her. I looked over where she sat among her friends in the music class. Ms. J called out random names and announced partners. Then she called her name.
My heart thumped loudly inside my chest. I wanted her to be my partner. And she did, all thanks to Ms. J. All thanks to karma.
"What should we perform?" She casually asked me.
"A song?"
"Pabo."
"Excuse me."
She looked at me in surprised eyes. "You don't understand Korean?"
I shook my head. Yet, she smiled.
"Anyways, I was asking about the instrument?"
"I can play keyboard."
"Great. Can I sing please?" The look on her face made my heart go crazy. Sure you can! "Ya."
"Thanks." She smiled brightly. "Which song should we perform?"
I thought for a moment. "I don't know. Anything you like?"
Now she was immersed in thinking. She looked so pretty in that posture.
Suddenly she said, "I know! What about 'Best of Me', by BTS?"
