The black sky above was darker today. The only light available was the light of the Sundarn - the artificial sun launched by our scientists a few decades back.
The blue colour of the sky, as we were told by our grandparents and to them by theirs and it continued, was no longer visible. I wish I could have seen the stars and the moon as shown in our e-books. How beautiful they must have been!
Suddenly, black smoke started filling the room. I ran towards my digital cupboard and pressed the air filter button. The black smoke disappeared. Just then I got a call.
"Yes?"
"Miss Sarah, would you like to refill your air filter?" said the robot voice on the other end.
Oh! I forgot. Today is 15th April, 4027. The one year filter plan will expire today.
"Yes. May I know the cost?" I said and paid for the refilling.
Yes, we have to refill our oxygen tanks as no more.... something called trees which were the natural air filters are available today. People say that the earth is no longer going to exist. The world is so over polluted by something called plastics. We have never seen them but have heard in the news channels that they were used excessively used by our forefathers which caused such a bad condition of our planet.
Plastics were banned more than a century ago but it's overuse has its effects till date. Our scientists have concluded that life is possible on Mars as well. People from earth have been started to be shifted there as there isn't enough place to live on the earth.
But it's not the only reason. The main reason is that the earth has been flooded hundreds of times, thousands of volcanoes have erupted which doesn't give out diamonds anymore. They give only the poisonous gas of the plastics. Using the earth as the dumping ground for plastics has filled the earth's core with plastic which comes out during volcanic eruptions. Today, it's our turn to go to the mars. I hope life will be better there.
"Sarah, come down. We are leaving", cried dad.
"Coming dad, I said and grabbed my oxygen mask and cylinder.
Wearing them, we sat in the transport capsule and left. Our humanoid, Alyssa, was already at the space station with our luggages.
"Are you ready to go?" asked the spaceship humanoid. We all looked at each other and nodded. We were about to board the spaceship when we heard, "A huge tsunami is approaching. All the remaining glaciers have melted. The world is going to end."
We knew it would come soon. We all hugged each other- me, Alyssa, dad, mom and whispered, "I love you."
Today we are dying, not due to our deeds but due to the deeds of our forefathers. I hate them. They had 2 choices - Planet or Plastic, but they chose 'PLASTIC'.
