"That's what i said!" I toned out my friends as we walked to school. The sky was shining, the town was bustling and my friends were talking about what they always talked about.

A peaceful life...I smiled as i thought about my life. Living in Vale has brought peace to my life. Even though i'm a faunus i've made friends, go to a prestigious academy and even have a job. Everything is looking up for-

"Y/N" I heard my friend call my name. When i turned to face him i saw that him and the others were staring at me. "Jeez, you looked out of it." He laughed. I chuckled awkwardly, not wanting to tell them about why. So we headed inside and all went to our first class. Its the one class i look forward to. I thought as i headed to combat studies with Professor Xiao Long. He never used a weapon but he taught us about all the different types. Last year i even made my own and that's when i was separated from my friends. We each got a new class taught by someone who uses our type of weapon. They teach us how to master it.

I use a double edged great sword with both sides being serrated. The sword can separate into two long swords with serrated fronts and smooth backs. When i created it i thought about adding a gun to it. But... Professor Xiao Long said it was impractical, but if i really wanted to do it i could ask my weapon teacher to help me with the customization. If i knew who my teacher would be...I would've made a different weapon.

"Hello students" Professor Xiao Long started. We all pulled out our notebooks and began taking notes. He was a great teacher...But he liked to make jokes...Really bad jokes. I began to look outside. Thinking about my peaceful life again as i stared at a bird. The bird sat in that tree every day looking at one of my classmates. She has black hair with red tips. Her name was Ruby. The only reason i know her is because we share the same weapon instructor. Even though we use different weapons.

"Y/N" One of my friends shook me. "You zone out more and more dude" He said. I looked forward before turning to him with a fake smile.

"Yeah, but its alright" I assured him. I wasn't exactly lying. But whenever i looked at that bird i thought about how much freedom it must have, but every day it comes here to watch over Ruby. What makes it do that? Why would it choose to wait instead of fly free? How peaceful it must be to be able to go where-ever you want whenever.

Soon enough combat studies ended and my notes were only half taken, but i was fine with that. "Ugh" I groaned loud enough for my friends to hear.

"Hate your weapon instructor that much?" One of my friends asked.

"Should've just done what we did and went with a weapon based on the instructor you like the most." Another one chimed in. He wasn't wrong, just not right.

"Yeah, maybe i should've." I said, ending the conversation. After that we all left the room and i walked slowly to my weapon instructor's class.

"Hey Y/N" I heard a childish but feminine voice say as she sped passed me. I saw the usual red rose pedals. We weren't exactly friends. But we have talked a few times. She stopped a few feet in front of me and waited for me to catch up.

"You don't have to wait for me, Ruby." I said to her as we walked together.

"I know, but...I don't know anyone in our class besides you and Unc-Instructor Qrow- I mean Branwen." She said, messing up the name of the instructor. She was related to our weapon teacher and our combat teacher. Her family has alot to do with this school. 2 Teachers and 2 Students. The teachers and students couldn't be any different from eachother. Ruby is socially awkward and can be timid at times but is a normal girl once you get passed the awkward beginning of meeting her. I've only ever met her sister once...But she was a social butterfly and well the opposite of Ruby in appearance. As for the teachers...Mr Xiao Long is a very serious teacher who tells jokes and genuinely enjoys teaching. Then there's Professor Branwen... I sighed as we reached the class. Ruby stormed inside to her seat at the front while i went to the far back.
