Chapter 6: Visit

"That's great! Can I come?" Chika asked again

"What did we just say earlier?"

"Ehehe. I'm just kidding don't take it seriously" Chika reasoned out

We're almost close at the school. We went straight to our classroom. Its almost the start of the class but Riko is still not yet here. I wonder what happened

Lunch time

We talked about eating to the rooftop and continue our discussion there. I quickly went to the cafeteria to buy a sandwich and juice. I arrived at the rooftop and found them eating with their packed lunch

"Seems like Riko-chan is absent today. I wonder what happened?" You-san said disappointedly

"Beats me. Maybe she's sick?"

"I'm so worried! Can we visit her later?" Chika asked

"Chika kept on forgetting what we just discussed this morning. Is she always like that You-san?"

"Can't deny it" You-san bluntly replied

"Ehh!? We wouldn't know if we don't go" Chika replied

"Calm down Chika. Like I said I'll go to her house later after school and try to convince her"

"I really hope things will work out later. We really need someone like her after all" You-san replied

"You're right."

The bell rings out and its almost time to head back to class

After class

I went straight to Riko's house. I saw her mom outside of their house carrying some plastic bags. I quickly went after her and helped bring them inside

"Thank you so much, umm..." Riko's mom said

"Akira. Akira Amamiya"

"Oh I remember you. Aren't you the one who helped my daughter to find her piano sheets the day before her piano competition?" She asked

"Y-yes ma'am"

"Oh dear thank you so much about that. She's really panicking that day when she lost them." She replied, "but in the end, she didn't get the chance to play them in her last competition"

"Did something happened to her that day?"

"I'm not actually sure about what happened. She just spaced out and left the stage without playing anything. I'm still worried about that until now" She replied

While we're talking, Riko went downstairs and saw us. She just stared at us as we talk

"Oh right, you can talk to her in her room if you want. Why dont you two enjoy yourselves? I still have to do something" Riko's mom went back to their kitchen

Riko lead me to her room. It has less decorations and the window view of the beach is wonderful. And there's a piano on the corner of the room but looks like its rarely used

"Come, take a seat" Riko said. I took a seat next to her at her soft bed.

"What happened to you? Did you got sick?"

"Yeah, but I'm better now and I'll be able to attend school again tomorrow" she replied

"That's good to hear"

Its just a small talk but I felt this awkward silence after that.

"... I bet mom already told you about that. About what happened at my last piano competition?" Riko asked

"She did. I'm sorry about that"

"Why are you apologizing?" Riko slightly giggled, "It was all my fault in the first place"

"What do you mean?"

"Ehehe. For now, why dont we walk to the beach? I feel like I need some fresh air right now" Riko quickly breaked out and dragged me

She pulled me along with her and walked straight to the beach. I noticed as we walk, tears starting to flow in her eyes but she's trying to hold it. We sat down to the sand as we watch the sunset

"I really love this view. I'll never get tired of it for sure" Riko slowly lay down her head to my shoulder

"Me too"

The calm breeze from the ocean and the water trying to reach the surface makes us both feel at ease like we dont want to stand up and just stay here as long as we want

"Can I ask you a favor?" Riko asked

"What is it?"

She suddenly paused for a few seconds and went eye contact with me while holding my hand

"Please, help me" Riko replied
