It was cold, and I didn't know where I was. My head throbbed like a drum to a rock song. I was slumped against a soaking wet brick wall. I sat up straight and my hand seared with pain as it touched the wet, dirty ground. I looked down to see a large cut across the width of my hand. Blood was seeping out by the second. I looked at my surroundings and smelled something odd. It was coming from my clothes. I look at them. My clothes were seared black. They were crunchy and no longer smooth to the touch. I then saw a bulge in my pants, and in that area it was wet. I reached into the pocket and pulled out a soaking wet handkerchief. I tied a tight knot around my cut and it slowed the bleeding and soothed the pain. I'll deal with that later I thought. Feeling better, I took a second to take in my surroundings. It looked like I was in some kind of alleyway, but I couldn't see the end, only walls, as far as the eye could see.Where am I and what happened? I ask myself but I was drawing a blank. But it came back to me. The battle against Catalina. I needed that win. I then realized a door. I could also see light pouring out from the small glass pane at the top of the frame. I heaved myself up and walked as quickly as I could, but stumbling frequently, towards the door. I tried the knob and it wouldn't budge. I knocked 3 times, and a small figure appeared in the doorway. The cracked the door, and said, "Ah, yes. I have been expecting you. Oh yes I have. Well, come in, yes, come in now." An old man said, his deep voice trembling as if I was holding a knife at his throat. He moved aside and I slowed into the small building and looked around, but quickly realized, it was a house. He looked outside both ways, and then shut the door. I walked down the long, narrow hallway into a bedroom with random furniture lying all around like it had been struck by a tornado or something alike. I seat myself down in a chair and patch up my hand with a first-aide kit sitting nearby. I had to take a moment to think about who that man. He's supposedly my grandfather but so much had happened lately I didn't know what was real and what wasn't. I took of my shirt and found one that looked about my size without realizing I wasn't alone. I swiftly turn around to see a handsome young man standing behind me. "Hey babe," he says to me and I smile, and pretend like everything is okay. I'm good at that. I grew up without a family. Without love. A poor innocent girl. But would I go back and change it? No, absolutely not. You are only who you are because of your experiences. That's what kept me from wishing it all away. From uttering the words if it only happened this way.

"Hey." I managed to sputter out before walking out of the room. My father awaits me in the room to my left so I go to the right. Trudging straight up the stairs to my bedroom down the east corridor. What may see like a small little house has 3 floors that I knew about. A perk of magic. Well. Sometimes. I pick up the picture frame sitting beside my bed and a tear trickles down my face. I hadn't seen her in five years. I still had hope. We knew where she was. But that itself meant nothing. Was she alive? One could hope. I hear a knock at the door even though it was wide open. I swipe away the tear and look up.

"What the hell happened out there? You were supposed to follow them! Not try to kill them!" My dad screams at me. I could smell the alcohol wafting off his breath from here. "And why is that boy in my house? You know how I feel about him. He is the enemy."

"He is not the enemy. Now would you please leave me be?" I ask him quietly. Ever since my mom disappeared, he had been drinking to cope. I knew it was wrong but it's not like I could do anything.

"Your sister is here Elle. She said it's an emergency." The small frail man alerts me. I rush down the stairs to see her a bloody mess.
