I didn't want to move. Of course I didn't! Who would want to move away from everything you know into a void of basically nothing? All I knew was that my crazy aunt Cheryl moved there years ago and I was not ready to be pushed into investigation of family members all over again!
~
"Sam!" My mom shouted from upstairs.
"We're waiting on you! Can you hurry up!? What could be so important at this moment that you're keeping us waiting like this?"
I could tell my mom was getting irritated with me. I just...didn't want to leave. Everything I had here was perfect! I had a great reputation, good friends, I was so close to making it with Michael...but now my whole childhood was getting thrown in the trash.
"I'M COMING MOTHER! Give me a minute to collect my thoughts!" I yelled.
~
I stormed down the stairs and ran through the now empty hallways of my what used to be home. I couldn't help but to cry. Everything was gone!
I grabbed my heavy backpack and ran to the car. I sat in the front seat and looked back at my sister who was also crying...we grabbed each other's hands and watched the house as mom pulled out of the driveway and drove down the street. There was no going back now.
Now playing> Thinkin Bout You - Frank Ocean
~
I don't really remember much of the car ride accept for crying myself to the point of lucid dreaming which was a very odd experience for me! But I woke up to us driving in a huge twisty highway with 2 large pillars piercing into the sky like needles through fabric reading welcome to Houston Texas.
"Morning Sam!"
I sat in silence both scared of how real this really was and how late it was to turn back...millions of thoughts ran through my head at the speed of a bullet train none of them lasting even a second long enough for me to comprehend them. I panicked and squirmed in my seat for my phone and a pair of headphones.
Now playing> Falling - Trevor Daniel
About a half an hour later we pulled up to our new house... it was actually kind of cute? I grabbed a box and my backpack and ran to the front door scrambling to grab the keys my mom had handed me. I slowly unlocked the door and nudged it open... it was the biggest house I had ever been in! I dropped my bag and set the box on top of another and sprinted to the nearest window. There was a huge pond with a small waterfall in the back and trees and a forest. That was the place I wanted to be right now.
Without a care in the world I forced myself through the backdoor and skipped to the pond. I already knew I was going to like it here a lot. Time flew by faster than it ever had before and before I knew it my mom and sister were calling for me to come help them set up the table and put dishes and decorations around the house.
Now playing> I'll keep you safe - Sagun
I was in my own mindset that night. I didn't speak to my family I just worked until all the boxes were emptied and I could go back to room. As soon as we finished putting dishes in the cabinets and food in the refrigerator I ran upstairs and flopped on my mattress and pulled the covers up to my shoulders looking out the huge window at the dark night sky and the pond reflecting the moon in the distance...This is my life now. I thought to myself as I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
~
"Sam! Wake up sweetie! We have a lot of work to do today!"
I woke up in a haze, not knowing where I was or what was happening. I took a few minutes to observe my surroundings and got up to get dressed.
I dug around in my dresser and picked a few things I'd like to wear and laid them out on my mattress. A purple T-shirt, overalls, sweat pants, and an olive green dry fit shirt I got at my old school for swimming practice. I picked the overalls and olive green shirt and got dressed.
I walked down the stairs and suddenly a faint whiff of bacon and pancakes filled the air around me and I raced to the dining room in search of my lovely plate of golden pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream with bacon and eggs on the side but...
Nothing was there accept a warm pan? I looked around and realized...MOLLY MADE THEM ALL FOR HERSELF! My day was just getting good... I thought to myself.
"Why don't I get any pancakes!?" I asked Molly angrily.
"Hehe mom said I should make pancakes to make you get out of bed...she never said I had to share them!" I grabbed some pancakes mix and some other ingredients and started cooking my own.
When I was finished making my Instagram worthy pancake stack I snapped a picture and went out to my little spot by the edge of the pond and watched the sunrise.
