Wings

When you lose your wings, it's like losing an arm or a leg. They are apart of you, physically and emotionally. You can no longer feel the wind in your hair as you fly high above the city. You can no longer have your head in the clouds to clear you mind after a ruff day. You look up at the sky longingly, needing to be up their again. So you begin to go to rooftops, tall trees, and any other high thing you can climb. All this just so you can be close to the sky again.

I remember one time when I was 15, I was on the swings listening to music, and once I got to a certain height I jumped off and flew up into the clear blue sky. I still remember looking down and feeling free, free from all of the stress I went through. I looked up and flew up so high everything looked so small. It was cold and I forgot to bring a jacket so I came back down soon after that. I landed and grabbed my bag and walked home. All the while still listening to my music. That was one day of peace and calm that I needed.

Flying was my safe haven, whenever I got scared or felt overwhelmed or just needed to clear my head, I always had my wings. I miss them more than words could ever explain.

Losing your wings is just like losing an arm or a leg. They are a part of you physically and emotionally.
