Family.
My family is the most important thing in my life. I would give my life for my family. My whole bat-shit crazy family. And this same bat-shit crazy family is currently ruining my life. Here's why.
A few hours earlier...
I wake up from my delightful nap, to lots of yelling downstairs. Immediately intrigued, I groggily get up from my bed, it creaking in the process, and slowly start to get up. Grimacing at the feeling of getting on my feet again.
I check the time on my bedside clock and it reads 8:26 PM. I must have fallen asleep after school. On the way out of my room, I sneak a glance in the mirror and grimace at my bed head, and pull my dark locks into a messy bun at the top of my head. It still looks awful, but it'll work.
I start walking out of my room and reach the stairs, following the increasingly louder voices down the stairs. By the time I reach the bottom, there is a full on screaming match going on. I rub my temples as a headache begins to make way and follow the voices to the kitchen and see my parents and brothers screaming at each other.
"What is going on?" I say as loud as possible with my groggy, still tired from my nap, voice.
All the angry eyes in the room turn to me, and my mom begins to talk.
"Noth-"
"We're moving" my older brother, Jason interrupts.
They all looked dead-ass serious so I turn around and walk out of the kitchen, wait about 10 seconds, walk back in and to their stunned faces I begin cracking up. Not just a small cackle, an OH MY GOD THIS IS HILARIOUS LET ME FALL OUT OF MY CHAIR AND ROLL ATOUND ON THE GROUND kind of laughter. This continues for approximately two minutes before I wipe the tears from my eyes.
"To hell we are, good one Jase. You almost got me there."
My other older brother, Jack, begins to speak up for him though.
"It's true, we're moving next week" he exclaims with anger in his eyes and turns his gaze at mom and dad with a glare
"You have got to be kidding me!" I exclaim, anger lacing my every word.
"Lu–" my dad began to say before I interrupted.
"I most certainly am not, you all can go, I'll gladly just stay here with my pretzel m&m's. You all can go to wherever the fuck you are going without me–"
"Language!" My dad interrupts.
"Dad, do you really think I care about my language right now? I don't want to leave Ohio. I love it here, and in the middle of the semester!" I exclaim. I stare at them with my mouth wide open, confusion openly gracing my tan features. I slowly close my mouth, and let the confusion fall from my face and replace it with an 'explain' look. I cross my arms and tap my foot impatiently, being a wee bit over dramatic.
I take a peek at my brothers, and they seem equally as pissed at this revelation. I see my dad run his fingers through his brown locks in stress, and he finally talks.
"You're mother, she has been working very hard these last few months as an interior designer. The company she works for, has begun to notice, and they've offered her a higher paying position"
I smile at his words, proud of my mother accomplishments, but frown short after.
"So what does that have to do with us moving?" I question.
"Honey," my mom interrupts, "I took the job. Think about this Luna, it may be good for us, especially you. You can finally get away from that awful boy, A–"
"Mom. Don't talk about him, I'm over him now, you know that." I reply with fear in my eyes that not even my parents can see.
My mom looks down regretfully and apologizes, " I'm sorry honey. I shouldn't have brought that up. But moving can be really good for us. We're in need of a change around here. But there's a catch. My new position requires us to live in California."
Well shit.
