She sat alone in the dark, hugging her knees as she cried while her damaged wings wrapped around her like a blanket. Her life had been ruined by those pernicious humans.

She clutched her necklace as she looked back on her memories. Every memory brought a piece of a new kind of emotion. Hate.

For centuries, the everlings and the humans had lived in peace, separate from each other until the everling queen decided to try to make an alliance with the human king. Everything went smoothly and the alliance was rather strong. That was until the 'incident' happened.

The king fell gravely ill and the humans blamed it on the everlings and their queen. The everlings were, as to be expected, confused at their accusations but they remained peaceful and did not act rashly whereas the humans, on the other hand, were making plans.

They had planned to attack the everling territory and assassinate the queen which would cause an uprising to which the fall of the everlings would occur. And so, on the night of July 12th, 1463, the plan was put into action.

Soon the night arrived and armored humans had gathered on horseback. They gathered their weapons as they dismounted before tying up their horses and heading into the everling kingdom.

The queen rose from her throne as they entered as guards stepped in front of her with their swords at the ready. "Xavier, It's lovely to see you. what is it that you need?" She asked, her silk-like voice echoed around the room.

Xavier smirked as he stepped forward before kneeling down on one knee as he placed his hand over his heart "Queen Kadenza, the king wishes for me to let you know that you have been a marvelous ruler, but he fears that you may need to retire."

As he was speaking, one of his men and managed to sneak past the guards and round the back of the queen. As Xavier had finished speaking, a sword was thrust into the queen's back causing her to let out a scream. She fell to the ground as the sword was removed, strands of her long fair hair falling across her face, her once shiny crystal blue eyes were now dull and lifeless.

The queen's guards instantly fell into a battle with the king's men. More men arrived and within a few hours, the kingdom was in ruins. There was one girl who was fortunate enough to survive, the princess.

She ran and ran until she could run no further. Her wings were damaged and her limbs were weak and tired. She took shelter under a tree for the night until the morning when the sun rose.

The next day she set off to the neighboring ally kingdom, the kingdom of the Trylvian.
