Chapter 1: Who is Corvus?

A 17 year old, purple haired girl with a halo and Angel wings who was dressed in a light, decorative shirt like Armor piece, white tights and brown boots was currently asleep in the observatory Library. "Chloe. Chloe! Wake up!" Chloe jolted awake grabbing the book off her face and faced an angry bald, lean man dressed in similar clothing to her who also had a halo and angel wings. "Oh! Hey master Aquila!" Chloe said trying to hide the fact she was asleep while having a book on her that was about magic used by the Gittish Empire. "It's nice you're researching the enemy but you're not really ready for that stage yet" Aquila said in a stern tone, sounding more like a telling off. "Come on! What are you scared of?"
"You can't use a sword. While we were training yesterday your sword slipped out of your hand and when you picked it up you picked it up in the wrong hand" Aquila replied, sounding unimpressed. "In my defence. I CAN'T USE A SWORD! I'm a blam ker-"
"I don't want to hear this again. You will learn how to use a sword and train like a Minstrel" Aquila interrupted having heard Chloe's tangents a million times before. "Training is tonight after the evening meal. You will be there" Aquila walked of, leaving Chloe sulking.

A few hours later the sun was starting to fall Chloe headed to the one person she believed she could say her opinions to, Apus Major. He was a small, old man dressed in the same clothing like armour all Celestrians wore with the same wings and Halo. She searched around the observatory for Apus before finding him outside talking with another Celestrian, he turned as the celestrian walked away and spotted Chloe. "Ah. Young Chloe! What brings you here?" Alpus asked with his usual upbeat tone. "The usual. My rant about how Aquila doesn't accept that I can't use a sword and how he won't let me train differently"
"Well at least you're self aware!" Alpus joked, trying to brighten up the mood of the usually cheerful Chloe. "Anyway! You just need to get through basics training and then you can change your training"
"I know but... I feel scared with a sword... I hate confrontations up close... I prefer magic because I know I'm safe except from other magic users... And I don't have the most strength..." Chloe admitted with a somber attitude, but Alpus could tell something else was plaguing the young girl's mind. "There's something else you're not telling me Chloe." Chloe sighed and said the words Alpus had feared from the young cheerful girl "Who is Corvus and why is he appearing in dreams and visions I have?" Alpus took a deep breath, not wanting to reveal anything too much and explained. "Corvus used to be a great protector like Aquila, he actually was the mentor of Aquila, but he got injured once defending the town he was assigned to. After that we didn't have any contact with him. We haven't heard of him for years on end"
"OK. But why is he showing up in visions and Dreams I have?" Chloe tried asking, hoping to get an answer out of Alpus "I don't know... It may be possible he's trying to come back or that an evil force is trying to trick you. Be careful though." Chloe smiled and her eyes suddenly lit up like she remembered something "Aquila is training me tonight! I gotta go! See you Alpus" Chloe turned and sprinted off while Alpus smiled and waved. When Chloe found Aquila he was waiting by the portal down to the protectorate "Finally, she's here." Chloe ran to Aquila, confused "Why are we here?" "I'm taking you down to the Protectorate and showing you the town you will guard" Chloe's eyes lit up as she hugged him. "Don't get to attached to me. I'm just your mentor" Chloe immediately released from the hug and waited, bouncing up and down with excitement, for Aquila to take her down.

Down on the Protectorate, by a small village a girl and an older man was walking to the village. "Come on Grandpa!" The young blue haired girl said, she was in what looked like a blue dress with a skirt over it, Chloe couldn't tell from where she was. "I'm sorry dear. My back in these days is getting worse and worse" the old man replied, he was in a tunic, he had white hair. Chloe and Aquila spotted some monsters, a massive Cucumber with legs and a spear with two slimes. "It's time to Help someone Chloe" Aquila darted down to the monsters with Chloe following. They landed and started to fight. Aquila started to fight the Cucumber, struggling due to the weapon length advantage. Chloe got stuck with the slimes, one jumped at her as she quickly sidestepped the attack and sliced the slime in half. The other slime jumped as well, Chloe this time kicked the slime upward and stabbed it. By this time Aquila Manages to kill the cucumber. The girl and her grandpa had made it into the village as Chloe watched, enthralled by the girls beauty. The girl looked up and said something Chloe couldn't hear as a small blue wisp came from her and landed in Chloe's hands. "Well done Chloe. You gained some benevolence" Chloe smiled and turned to Aquila. "I would ask what that is but what I really want to know is how did I get so good with a sword?" This caused a laugh to escape from both of them as they started to head back up to the observatory.
