"Life" the word is an understatement of what we have to endure each and every single day. Some days are harder than most and yet we choose to continue this existence mainly, because of our stupidity to accept the fact that our existence is absolutely inferior and has no meaning what so ever. My name is Damon Hale*, I'm a teenager and as any other teen my age I have the need to question everything that society has to offer and everything our predecessors teach us. What they call normal, I call weird and yet if enough people do the exact same thing it's based as normal. An example of this so called normality is making your bed. Our beds won't fall apart if we don't make them. The beds value doesn't go up or down if it's made or not. It's just something we base as normal. Eating cereal with a spoon is seen as normal and eating it with a fork is weird. Its seen as weird cause we don't all do it. If everybody ate cereal with forks and one with a spoon then that person who eats with a spoon would be seen as weird. The point I'm trying to make is that we don't exactly know what is normal and what is not.
Being gay for example is weird because the exact same sex having feelings towards another doesn't make sense and yet if a man has more than one wife some see it as normal. Where do we draw the line? Being gay wouldn't necessarily be wrong if everyone was gay, yet most of us are straight and therefore being gay seems weird/wrong. Normality is over rated, life is over rated. What you base as normal is because of others opinions and not your own. If you were raised to believe black and white don't mix for example, then you'll probably end up with the same coloured skin partner. Others opinions define yours.
Human kind is amazing for one simple reason we act on emotion and there for we are Unpredictable. You never know how people would react to the exact same circumstances. Some cry when they lose someone, some don't. Each individual is different from the next. All this is why we can't use the word normal. Its fiction, fantasy it's unreal. We made something up so that we can relate. With this stupid creation we diminished our differences, we took away what made us unique. We did this to ourselves. Popularity is also something made up. What makes you better than me? Is it your hair, your skin or just because you showed boobs to guys? A Bit forward I know, but also true.
Popularity is bought. Whether its with daddies check book or taking the spotlight in sports or other school activities. Why should someone care if you got first place in this or that. They should care if your you. For fuck sakes if everything is a competition then why don't we award everything? Like the guy that eats a lot should get the piggy trophy and the girl that sleeps around should get a map, clearly she is lost and can't find her own bed. A bit crude i know, so I'll just hide behind the saying that 'the truth hurts' I mean that's what we all do. It easier to make excuses than to except responsibility for our actions. Ironic enough its also normal or so we say....
I don't have anywhing against anyone. If you have wings cool, if you have an extra eye great! Your differences make you who you are, so why would you ever want to change them? You being you is normal. That's what normal is, being yourself. Don't be a copy, be the original....
