'You don't always get what you want'
Delilah thought with a smile, looking at the guy she thought she loved.
"You know, If you had told me these, five years ago, I would have married you and could've been the happiest woman on earth." She said calmly.
"And what about now?!" Damien probed, cautiously.
"NO!" She said, flat out.
Damien frowned at her answer.
"Why not?! I thought you loved me. Is it that you love someone else or what?!"He asked all the questions in one breath.
"You know what, Damien? There's something about life. It's so full of ups and downs. You can't make your cake and eat it too. You can't always have what you want, darling." Delilah said, still calm about the whole situation.
"So........ You love someone else?!"
"No, I don't"
"Then why can't you marry me. I just declared that I love you. I can't live without you." His voice croaky with tears.
"And why the hell would you say that?!" She asked him, crossing her arms.
"Say what?!" He asked.
"That you love me. And that you can't live without me!" She asked, raising a perfectly shaped eyebrow.
"Because I really do. I love you. And right now, I feel like my heart is being ripped out of my chest." He said placing his hand on the left side of his chest.
Delilah smiled again remembering all those teenage years of her life. He had been her best friend and she loved him so much it hurt. He was always there for her but as time went by, he started losing interest in her life, preferring the company of his so called friends and bitchy girlfriends. It really shattered her heart into a million shards or so she thought.
But after high school she realized, no matter how many times, you were hurt by one person and it didn't pain for a long time, then it wasn't worth it. She found out it was love but she only loved him. She wasn't in love with him. And it wasn't enough. Her whole perspective of life changed and she became happier.
A sob broke her line of thoughts and brought her back to reality.
"You will live. I know that."
Everything came at the right time and she believed everything happened for a reason.
"What the fuck are you even talking about?" Damien asked bewildered.
"What if I take away your opportunity to meet Miss Right, hmm?" She asked.
"What?" He asked, still confused.
"I mean, I love you but I'm not in love with you. I don't think you're in love with me too. I also think you can live without me. I'm just a normal girl. So why not find the right girl to replace me, hmm? Instead of getting into something that will never end well. It's pointless. We'll just waste each other's time. Trust me, I don't want to hurt you. So how about you take it out of your mind that you can't fucking live without me and pour all that passion into something that will benefit you. I think you should focus on looking for The Miss Right, Okay?" She asked seriously and very carefully like she was talking to a child.
Damien looked at her like she was crazy.
"And No, I'm not crazy." Delilah laughed.
"But I love you" Damien said, weakly.
"It's not ENOUGH!"
"I really feel like my heart is being ripped out of my chest." He said, tears running down his cheeks.
"How cliché?!" Delilah chuckled.
"Your heart will be just fine" She said patting his Shirt covered chest.
Suddenly, thunderclaps were heard and the rain started falling.
"No matter what, I love you and I know you're going to find someone that is right for you." She told Damien walking backwards step by step.
"I've got to go now" She said blowing him a kiss.
Delilah watched as he turned around bumping into a beautiful woman with Raven black hair.
She almost fell to the ground but Damien caught her.
"I'm so sorry. I wasn't looking my way." Damien said to the lady, who was still fumbling with her bag.
"No, it's okay.... It's oka-" The woman didn't finish her sentence when she looked at Damien.
"Hi" She breathed out.
The rain started falling at that moment.
"Hello there. Are you Miss Right?" Damien asked jokingly, the rain covering his tears.
"Only if you're Mr Right " The woman giggled
"FINALLY!" Delilah cried out and looked up at the sky. She laughed in the rain and skipped Home remembering that two love birds.
