      On the side is Jason

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The drive back to the house was quiet. I didn’t think he was mad at us but with Alpha I put nothing past him. When we got to the house we all jumped out and headed inside. That was the first time he spoke.

“Cam, Aidan and Megan will be back tonight. They went into the city to do some shopping for the baby. Dominique and Angelique aren’t expected until later on this afternoon. I think there were some things Megan needed done today that you guys can work on.”

Then he walked up to her and kissed her head like Jason had done mine. He smiled down at her and again that feeling of him thinking of her as his sister was clear in his eyes. Cam smiled up at him and headed for the stairs.  I followed behind her but was stopped by Alpha’s hand on my arm.

“Aimi, come with me to my office please?” He said in his husky voice giving nothing away.

I shrugged to Cam and followed him down the hall to his office. He went in first and leaned up against his desk, his long legs stretched out in front of him. Somehow the stance with his arms behind him on the desk, made him look even more intimidating than normal. I closed the door behind me and stood in front of if waiting for him to tell me what it was he needed privacy for.

“Thank you for defending me in the office.” I said first watching him. He gave me a strange look then nodded.

“You are welcome. But you never have to thank me for that. No man should ever touch you without your consent, and they for sure have no right to touch you with intentions to harm.” He tilted his head watching me. “Has anything ever happened like that before?”

“You mean Tony? Or just stupid people in school in general?”

        “Both,” He said smiling.

“Tony was the first one to ever do something like that at this school. But I haven’t been here for long.” I said to him looking out the window of his office.

“Things like Tony had happened before?” He asked carefully. I could feel his eyes on me, studying me even though I didn’t turn around to see him. I could deny it but he would be able to tell I was lying. The joys of being a werewolf.

“Yeah.” I kept my eyes turned to the outside not wanting him to see my eyes, to see what I knew was there.

        “What happened?” He asked softly.

“Nothing special. Just boys being boys.” I told him softly.

“I understand. But I need you to understand something, Aimi.” He said and I felt his hands on my shoulders turning me to look at him. When had he moved? Damn werewolf warrior stealth.

“What’s that?” I asked slowly staring into his chest still not prepared to look into his eyes and reveal anything to him. He wasn’t having it though, he lifted my face with his finger and his light grey eyes locked with mine. I saw something in his eyes that I turned away from constantly, I saw the same look I saw when I looked in the mirror.

“If anything like Tony happens again, anything even close. You come tell me. Because no one is ever going to hurt you again, Aimi. I won’t let them. Do you understand me?” He said with his stone face and hunted eyes.

I barely knew the man but I could hear the steady beating of his heart. The steady rhythm letting me know there were no lies. I had seen him protect the others. I had seen him get possessive and over baring to the point he seemed almost a caveman.
