Chapter 12 - Hide and Seek

Start from the beginning

She was standing dangerously close to you. If you would run away now, she would notice you. You had to wait until she was almost in front of you

Your heart was beating loudly.

She started walking slowly.

"Kuuurt. I know you're here"

"Help"

You mouthed to Peter

"It's gonna be okay"

He mouthed back

She could almost see you. You prepared to run. Then you heard something fall in the room at the end of the hall. Jean turned around and left the room

You heard a beep through the whole mansion: time to switch seats.

A beep could be heard every minute
Two beeps could be heard every ten minutes
Three beeps could be heard every half hour

You crawled towards the shelf on you left. Peter joined you.

"Jean looks like she's posessed"

"She always behaves like this while playing hide and seek. It's creepy"

"It sure is"

"HEEEELPPP!!"

You heard Kurt screaming while hearing loud footsteps in the hall

"Go Kurt"

You whispered, knowing Jean will be running too

"We should choose a different room now"

"Agreed"

Peter took your hand and you ran to the second floor. Peter opened a door and ran in. You closed the door softly behind him

You turned around and noticed you were standing in someone's bedroom. You could see a queen-sized bed, a desk with a computer and a table with photo's of people. As you looked closer you noticed a little girl with a young woman. Then it hit you, that girl was you and that woman was your mother. You were in Charles' room!! You let out a quiet sob as you studied the picture. Your mother had your eye color and hair color and had a huge smile on her face. A tear rolled down your cheeks.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah"

You lied

"No you're not. It's okay to not be okay. Everyone is not okay once in their life. You can tell me what's going on"

You picked up the picture and showed it to Peter.

"That little girl there is me, and that beautiful young woman is my mom"

"You look a lot like your mom"

You smiled through the tears

"She died last year. She had cancer. And it was already in a horrible state. We couldn't fix her anymore. We found out to late. She knew she was about to die and she told us everyday how much she loved us. I went to visit her every morning. I brought her breakfest and sang for her. She loved my voice, she used to tell me I was so talented. She was keeping herself so strong. I usually spend the whole day by her side. From morning to night. And when I had to say goodbye, I said goodbye like I would never see her again, knowing that one morning she wouldn't wake up anymore. And I was right. One morning I woke up and walked towards the kitchen. I always was first awake since I could barely sleep thinking about my mother. I made her favorite cereal and walked towards the hospital room. She was usually awake when I arrived but she wasn't now. I told myself she was just sleeping, so I waited for a while. Then I noticed the heart monitor. It had stopped. I looked at my mom and knew she had died that night. I kept telling myself that she went in her sleep but it didn't fix the pain. I broke down crying. I held her hand and kept telling her to wake up. I told her how much I loved her and that she couldn't leave me. After ten minutes I let go of her hand. I looked towards her other and noticed she was holding a paper in it. I unwrapped it and saw it was a songtext I wrote about her. It was a short one, but she had always loved it. Although my voice was gone because of all the crying, I decided to sing it to her one last time. When I was finished I noticed Hank standing in the hall. He had tears in his eyes. He ran towards me and wrapped me in his arms. He kept telling me that everything would be okay and that he was heartbroken too. He had to drag me away, I didn't want to leave her. I was screaming through the tears. It was the most heartbreaking experience in my life. Sometimes when I close my eyes, I can still see her. The bags under her beautiful e/c eyes, her pale skin stuck with needles and her smile through all the pain. She was so strong"

You broke down crying with the picture in your hand

"I'm so sorry Y/N, I didn't know"

"I-It's okay, I d-don't really l-like to talk about i-it"

"I understand"

He kneeled down beside me and wrapped me in a hug. At that moment the door opened and Jean walked in

"Found y-omg Y/N are you okay?"

She ran towards us and joined the hug. Then she noticed the picture in your hand.

"Y/N it's okay. We all miss her"

She said with a calming voice.

"Let's go downstairs. Get you some hot chocolate okay?"

I nodded

*time skip brought to you by my watery eyes*

I was sitting in the couch with my head in the crook of Peter's neck. His arms was wrapped around my shoulder and he kept telling me calming words.

"Here is your hot chocolate"

Hank said.

Jean had gotten everybody back to the living room, since the game had stopped by you. Raven was crying. She was a close friend of my moms. Hank had bloodshot eyes. He had cried for a while, but had already stopped.

You grabbed the hot chocolate and took a sip. You didn't even care that your tongue was burning at the moment.

"How about we watch a movie to forget it? Y/N can choose"

Scott suggested

"Why start about it again Scott? She just stopped crying!"

Ororo said

"It's okay, Scott's right. Let's watch a movie. Men in Black?"

"Let's watch Men in Black"

Jean said
