The girl took a left turn into an alley, hoping to deter the man following her. She kept walking.
Then he grabbed her and slammed her against the wall, and that's when the translucent blue barrier extended from her body. It hit her attacker with such force than it threw him against the opposite wall, cracking his skull.
She covered her mouth to hold back a scream. She looked around, then ran from the alley. All she had to do was keep walking and pretend that never happened. Nothing weird happened.
But then again, weird things always happen in Haven, Maine.
