Harry's Pov:
It has been 4 years since my first deployment and since then I have been promoted captain and I am a certified Co-Pilot Gunner for the fearsome Apache.
After 4 years I am being deployed to Afghanistan again and I can't wait to get back out there but I am not to excited to tell my father and brother.
I changed out of my pajamas and I went to the grocery store to grab a few things for dinner.
After grabbing what I needed I paid for my groceries and went home to prepare the steaks.
I made it home and started to prepare the steaks and put them in the fridge and went to call my father and my brother.
{ 3 Way Phone Convo. W/ William, Harry, Charles}
W,C~ Hello Harry
H~ Hey. I have something important to tell you both. You are both invited to my place for dinner tonight.
W~ What time should we be there?
H~ 7:30
C~ Alright, Son. We will be there.
H~ Great. I'll see you both tonight at 7:30
{ End Phone Convo.}
After I got off the phone with Pa and William I created a list of everything that I would be taking with me to Afghanistan and cross-checked that list against what I will have to get before I deploy.
I hang the lists on my fridge and continue on with my day.
William's Pov:
Harry just called Pa and I and invited us over for dinner at his place at 7:30 tonight.
I am a little skeptical about going to this dinner because the last time he did this he told us that he was being deployed to Afghanistan for 7 months.
I turned to my wife Kate who looked at me curiously.
" Who was that?" Kate asks me
" That was Harry. He invited Pa and I over to his place for dinner tonight at 7:30." I tell Kate
" Well, That was nice of him." Kate tells me
" I don't know if am going to go." I tell Kate honestly
" William, This is your little brother we're talking about here. He just invited you and your father to dinner. Of course you are going." Kate tells me
" The last time he invited Pa and I over for dinner and at his place at 7:30 he told us that he was being deployed to Afghanistan for 7 Months." I tell Kate
" Maybe he just wants to catch up with you both." Kate tells me
" Maybe your right." I tell Kate
" So..... It's settled. You are going to go have dinner with your father and brother and no matter what happens we will handle it together." Kate tells me
After Kate helping me through my small deployment probability meltdown we spent a few hours watching TV.
At 7: PM I got up and got dressed and walked out the door and across the courtyard to Harry's place.
I walked inside and called for Harry.
" Harry, I'm here. Where are you?!" I holler out
" I'm on the patio!" I hear Harry holler back
I walk out onto the patio and see Harry manning the grill.
" What's for dinner?" I ask Harry
" Steak and potatoes. Grab yourself a beer from the fridge." Harry tells me
I grab a beer and walk back out onto the patio.
" Do you know when Pa is going to get here?" I ask my little brother
Before Harry could answer there was a knock on his door.
Harry opened the door to see Pa standing there.
" Come in." Harry tells Pa
After Pa is inside Harry closed the door and Pa went to go grab a beer from the fridge.
" Harry, What are these lists for?" Pa asks Harry pointing to 2 lists
" Those are lists for everything I will need. I am being deployed again." Harry tells us, confirming my worst fears
" Where are you being deployed?" I ask Harry
" Afghanistan." Harry tells me
" How long will you be gone?" Pa asks Harry
" 8 months." Harry tells us
" When do you deploy?" I ask Harry
" In 2 weeks." Harry tells us
" Why so soon?" I ask him
" They need Apache pilots in Afghanistan." Harry tells us
After a while of talking with Harry about his upcoming deployment we ate dinner and talked until Pa and I went home.
I walked across the the courtyard and walked inside the apartment and sat on the couch in complete silence.
" How was dinner with your father and brother?" Kate asks me
" It was good." I tell Kate vaguely
" Did Harry say anything?" Kate asks me referring to our conversation earlier
" Harry is being deployed to Afghanistan in 2 weeks for 8 months." I tell Kate
" 2 weeks?! 8 months?!" Kate exclaims
" Yeah." I tell Kate simply
" Why so soon and for so long?" Kate asks me
" They need Apache pilots out there in Afghanistan." I tell Kate simply
" We will get through this together." Kate tells me grabbing my hand squeezing it gently
After a while of talking with Kate we head upstairs to bed with the knowledge that my baby brother is being deployed again.
I close my eyes and pray silently that Harry is okay and stays safe and that he comes home in one piece or alive.
