I was at a party. The best part about 1928 are the parties. I am glad we became friends, she is really nice and funny. As I danced I caught sight of Rachel Morris. She was new in town, and she was a teacher. I heard she had been helping people, with their. . . troubles.

As I walked over to her, “Hey Rachel!” I said, but suddenly I was in a completely different place. I looked around. What the heck just happened.

I looked around from left to right. I was in a office, but everything looked weird, and futuristic. Sitting behind the desk was Rachel, but her hair was blond now. I really liked her with her black hair. Next to her was a man that I have never seen before. On the side of the desk closer to me two older men stood.

“What just happened?” I asked looking at Rachel, I could hear the fear leaking into my voice. The two older men turned around and smiled at me, “Why hello Alice.” The taller one said. How did he know my name?

“Well Audrey, Nathan see you around.” The smaller one said.

Rachel then turned to me, “So did you go back to the Colorado Kid Murder? Did you see if Lucy Ripley was actually my mother?” Rachel asked me. What? Someone was murdered?

“What’s going on here? We were at the dance, and now we are here. And who is Audrey?” I asked. The man, Nathan I presume sighed as if he realised something. “Parker, I think this is her first time to the future.”

“The what!” I screamed.

Audrey/Rachel drew her hand through her hair. She looked slightly annoyed. She also looked exasperated. She ran her hand over her face.

“Well what year do you think it is?” Audrey asked.

“1928.” I answered.

Nathan and Audrey both looked at me. “Well we need your help. We have a case.” Nathan finally said. He started walking away.

I followed him, and Audrey followed. As we walked out of the police station something whizzed by on the street. I let out a screech. Nathan turned back to look at me. “What happened are you okay?” He asked.

I pointed at the road. Surly they both had to have seen the strange device on the road. I was breathing heavy and felt like I was on the edge of a panic attack.

“That was a car.” Audrey said. I looked at her. I have seen cars before, and they didn’t look anything like.

“Sure.” I said skeptically. It was quiet enough that the two of my companions didn’t hear.

They both got into a car. I stood next to the machine with my hands clasped behind my back. Audrey rolled down the window. “You waiting for an invitation?” she asked. I leaned forward a bit. “To what?” I asked.

Audrey seemed to be having issues with remembering that I didn’t know her. It was weird, she acted a lot like Rachel, but there were these differences. Rachel was more patient, but she was slightly more soft spoken.

“Get in the car.” Audrey said. I opened the back seat and slid in.

Then the car started moving. I gasped and held onto the handle. If we're meant to go this fast then God would have given us wheels.

Once we reached the weird white domed building Audrey went inside to question a man. I kind of just spaced out, cause I really didn’t care. I began thinking about how I feel like I’m in my place, even though I don’t know what anything is, and as the man had pointed out when I came in, I dressed differently. Here I just had this sense of belonging.
