‘Jezzerelle, do you still blame yourself for what happened to Argis?’
Horgoth was worried, I know. But this was a question I did not want to ponder.
‘I can’t pin it on anyone else, can’t I?’
‘Jezzerelle, my dear. What happened to him could not be stopped, even if we tried, all of us would have died to Halice, unable to free anyone from this place.’
‘BUT I AM AN ADVOCATE! IF I COULDN’T SAVE ONE MORTAL HOW WILL I SAVE US ADVOCATES?!’
A painful silence dropped between us.
‘Jezzerelle, I truly do feel sorry for Argis, but right now, time is not on our side.’ Morgula spoke
It burned. My heart ached at the memory of Argis. He was gone too young. Too soon. He could have been such an inspiration for so many people. He was the last mortal to survive Reale. He was strong, even after losing all of the people he lived and grew up with.
‘I’m scared, Horgoth. I can’t see myself doing this, I can’t save anyone…’
Horgoth came forward, and brought me into his warm embrace.
‘Do not cry, child. It’s hard to lose loved ones, I know. But we can only remember all the things we did with them, and not grieve over what we could have done.’
I cried.
‘Don’t worry, Jezzerelle. Argis would’ve wanted you to live the most, if not all of us,’ Morgula smiled.
‘Okay,’
I let go of Horgoth and wiped the tears from my eyes.
‘I’ll make sure we all get out of here,’
