"Honey, we're home!" Monica announced, carrying Ella. "How is the job search going, did you find anything?" Monica took Ella to her room and then came back into the living-room with me.

"It's going," I sighed. "I just keep getting distracted with everything and haven't found anything yet."

"You'll find something, I promise you," Monica smiled, looking over at me to see that I wasn't myself. "What's happening with you? You seem a little down, you want to talk about it? Do I have to go hurt somebody?"

I chuckled. "I'm fine, it's nothing important. I just have a lot on my mind that's all."

"Talk to me, Nailah," Monica said, causing me to face towards the direction of her. "You know I can tell when something is up with you. What is it?"

I sighed. "Christian sent me a letter and then had the nerve to call my phone trying to apologize."

"Christian?" Monica asked, a little surprised. She didn't expect to hear from him and neither did I. "That's a surprise, what did he say?"

"He was just saying how he was sorry for everything and that he wanted to meet with me when he comes into town," I answered. "He said that he wanted to meet Ella, but I just don't know about that."

"Are you going to meet with him?" She asked. "Ultimately it's your decision. I support you and wish you the best with any decision you decide to make. But make sure it's the right decision."

"Yes," I said. "I've thought about it for a while and I think this might help me move on for good just hearing what he has to say. You know?"

"The older you get, the quieter you become. Life humbles you so deeply as you age. You realize how much nonsense you've wasted time on," Monica said. "I think that's a good idea, sometimes you have to accept someone else's choice even though it will hurt you more than they will ever know."

"Thank you for understanding," I said. "I know this is probably a dumb decision to make after everything that he did to me but I think this is the only way that I can stop thinking about him and move on. I know he wasn't perfect...but he did the best impression of it. I've ever seen."

two days later.

Christian was in town this week and wanted to meet with me today. Ella was with Mrs. Paula and I was out with my girls. "How are you ladies doing tonight?" A male waiter came over towards our booth. "Could I get you, beautiful ladies, something to drink?" He smiled.

"Vodka on the rocks," Monica said.

"I'll take a coke," I answered, watching as he smiled at me.

"If that's all," The waiter smiled, winking at me. "I'll be right back with your drinks, thank you for joining us today."

"Girl, that man was fine," Neisha stared at him. "Dark skin, with dreads and a shit load of tattoos. Just your type, Nailah."

"I mean he's alright," I answered. "But I ain't feeling him like that."

"I know because you're too busy thinking about how things are going to go tonight with, Christian," Neisha stated, causing me to just stare at her. Was she even lying though? "If life can remove someone you never thought of losing, it can replace them with someone you never dreamt of having."

"I feel like meeting with him is something that she needs to do," Monica stated, causing Neisha to roll her eyes. "It will help her get some closure."

"I mean whatever you say," Neisha stated. "But if a man can leave his girl while she's with child than he ain't shit. If he leaves once don't expect him to not leave again it like a continuation problem with men like that."
