"What?!" I shrieked, my legs a bit shaky.

"-currently presumed KIA. His mission was unfinished, and so we will need a team to complete it...I am sorry, Whisper, Gerilynn."

I stared blankly at him, not comprehending his words.

"Oh..." I heard Gerilynn say, as though someone had knocked the breath out of her.

I turned, almost robotically, and walked out of the room. That's when it hit home.

I dashed away from them, throwing my weights to the ground until I surprised even Gai with my speed when I dashed by him. I kept running, straight into the woods within Konaha, stopping in a clearing where I dropped down and cried.

Shira found me a moment later, landing with a thud and wrapping her wings around me.

"W-what's going to happen?" I cried, wrapping my arms around her neck.

"...I don't know," she rumbled sadly, tucking me closer with her chin.

Quiet footsteps slowly reached my ears, not that I really cared.

"Whisper?" Gia called softly.

I didn't respond, only covering my ears, not wanting to hear it.

'Whisper, please. He's MIA. Only presumed KIA because it's procedure.'

I don't care. It's not like the 'Hokage' is going to do shit about it.

'Listen to me. He's ordered us to complete Kakashi's mission. He gave us the notes he left behind and told us to 'take care of everything'.'

I snorted. "Not like he'd let me go."

"Did he expressly say you couldn't?"

I shrugged, "He said I'm not allowed to ask him to go..."

"So don't ask."

"What?"

"Don't ask permission. Ask forgiveness."

"...When do we leave?" I asked, wiping my eyes and standing.

"Immediately. But...Whisper, Kakashi is one of the best shinobi in the village. If he is MIA, there are very few ways to interpret the meaning. The obvious, or he's been captured. Do you know what that means?' he asked seriously.

I nodded. "Means there's a serious badass out there."

"Right. There are relatively few capable of such a feat without either inside information or extraordinary power. This will be very dangerous. Are you willing to die for him?"

"Yes." I climbed onto Shira's back. "How far is it on foot?"

"About an hour."

"I can get us there in half that time. Where are we meeting?"

"Outside the West Gate." He waved and took off into the forest.

Shira flew us back to the apartment; I grabbed my things and had her tell the other dragons to meet us at the gates.

We dropped down by the gates, the other dragons behind us.

Gerilynn, Gia, and Akina stood waiting, the former rather scarier-looking than usual.

"We'll have to stop outside the village. The idea is to be inconspicuous," Gia told me as he climbed onto Raiden's back.

"That's fine," I shrugged.

Gerilynn climbed Minori with ease.

Akina hesitated.

"She won't bite, Aki," I told her.
