PROLOGUE: KYREN AND RAGNAR

Before the universe was full of life, it was an utter darkness that consumed everything around it. Darkness that was so thick, not a shred of light was able to bypass it’s grip. Life wasn’t sustainable in the all deafening shadows that plagued the universe. But from the depths of the darkness, a force was blooming. It’s power stretched far and wide; encompassing the entirety of the blackness of the universe as it was. The strange, newfound power echoing, surging, and reverberating to all the corners of this blooming universe, released unmeasurable energy, that was slowing filling the vastness with life.

Millennia pass, slowly the dark emptiness is turned into a utopia. Life has begun to bloom. The energy spirals and shoots around the vastness as though it’s a personal playground. At the center of the universe the energy gathered the strongest. A void, darker than the normal darkness that filled the universe was spreading in the middle of the first land mass. It was continuously growing; seeming as though it was going to consume what little was created in the emptiness.

Swirling around itself the void slowly faded away, leaving two bodies laying on the newly formed ground. One dressed in shimmering white and silver, the other drenched in black and bloody red. Their chests rose and fell in sync as they laid unconscious on freshly sprouted grass.

The man dressed in white and silver, had a soft, innocent face while he slept peacefully. His body relaxed and calm, with one hand outstretched to his counterpart. His brother on the other hand was the complete opposite. His face was scrunched up in assumed anger, his fists clenched, one at his side and the other laying millimeters away from his brother’s hand. Both had an insane beauty about them. Born from the same energy, but total opposites. One who sees every living thing with value, and holds compassion for the littlest creature, and the other who lacks the compassion and consideration for them.

As the ages pass, more and more living beings appeared from the depths of the void and joined the brothers on the land. Creatures of all shapes and sizes. Tall, and short. Strong, and weak. They turned the land into a home for them. Living peacefully alongside each other. The brothers watched from afar. The one clad in black, incapable of feeling any sympathy for the living, he didn’t fit in with the other creatures. His brother, able to feel all the emotions the other couldn’t, wasn’t able to leave his brother alone. He didn’t have the heart to let him live in solitude and stayed by his side.

“I wish you would give them a chance.” The white cladded one spoke. His voice gentle and rough at the same time. His head resting on his brothers shoulder as they look out to the horizon from the mountain scape they called their home.

“If it’s so important to you, then go down there. I’m not stopping you.” His brother growled, as his hands clenched into fists in his lap. His black cloak, covering his body with a dusting of white snow. “I’m not going to waste my time on those idiotic creatures.”

A soft sigh left his brothers mouth, before he sat up and turned to look into his brother’s rich red eyes. “You won’t know if they’re idiotic until you interact with them, brother. Please, for my sake, won’t you try?”

“Why do you even want to? Am I not enough for you?” Taken aback, the blue eyed brother felt his eyes water, before he wrapped his arms around his counterpart. “It’s always, the villages this. The villages that. But what about me? I’ve always been here for you. Me. Not them. Me!” He could feel his brothers rage building, while his clawed hands dug into the soft material that made up the white one’s cloak.

“Brother, I love you. You are my other half and always will be. I do not mean to try to replace you. Without you, I’m incomplete. Without you, I’m lost. But I feel it, in here,” he brings his hand up to his chest and lays his palm flat against his heart “that we should give them a chance. Make friends with these people. Please Ragnar?”
