Dedicated to GobbleDeDook

When writing Do the following:

*Write what you know about and if you don't know about it do some research. It helps.

*Write in full sentences. Your story just seems more professional that way.

*Vary paragraph and sentence lengths and don't be afraid of short sentences. (Just avoid using too many.)

*Vary your sentence construction. Try to use simple, complex and compound sentences

*Ensure that the Concord is correct.

*Decide on one tense for the story unless you refer back to something or to the future but if you start writing in past tense try to stay in past tense or else it just gets confusing. Eg. (Past tense) don't use the word was in one sentence and am in the next.

*Use both direct and indirect speech but study the rules if needed.

*Include sensory detail. Try to bring to life what you are describing. Smell, sight, sound, touch. When using touch try using the weight or the feeling of the object.

*SIDES

S- Strong verbs
I- Imagery
D- Detail
E- experience
S- Suggestion.

Try to give as much information that needs to be given but avoid giving all the information that might be for better use in the rest of the story.

When writing don't do the following.

*Repetition of words at the beginning of sentences.

*A repetitive sentence structure.

*Overuse of adjectives and adverbs.

*Overused words.

*Clichés : red as a tomato.

*Superfluous and unnecessary words or statements.

*Use of too many words when the same idea can be stated simply and clearly.

*Unnecessary big words such as prosecuted.

*Ambiguity.

*Numerals. (Write numbers in words unless it is the length of a person or miles on the road. There are other things too.

I hope you guys find this chapter useful. Feel free to let me know of other topics you would want me to explain or help on.
