Tamara had packed her bags and boxes the day before she was leaving for college. She was sad to leave her family, but happy that all of her friends were going to the same college as her. As she was packing her things she looked over in the corner of her room to see her bass guitar, sketchbook, pencils, and a backpack. Tamara grabbed her phone, earbuds, sketchbook and pencils, then put them neatly in her bag. She took down a few band posters and rolled them up, setting them neatly in a box full of her things. She stood up, wiped the sweat off of her forehead, and pulled her hair up into a ponytail. Then, two by two, she took the boxes out to her car, fitting them geometrically into the trunk. As she walked back inside she saw her small stuffed bear, made sure nobody was looking, and grabbed it. This was her favorite thing when she was little and she wanted to take it with her. When she got back to her room, Tamara put the bear and her laptop into the backpack. She then grabbed her chargers and put them in the bag too.
That night as she lie in bed, she sighed. Tamara was going to miss her family. She loved them so much and they were the people she did a lot of things with. But she was going to have to say goodbye for now. As she stare up at her ceiling, she felt her eyes get heavy, then finally, sleep overwhelmed her.
Tamara's alarm buzzed and flashed at exactly 5:30 a.m. She rolled over and turned it off, slightly annoyed, then sat up, looking around at her somewhat empty room. She then changed into the outfit she had laid out - ripped black skinny jeans and a gray hoodie - and left the room to go eat breakfast. The rest of her family was still asleep, so Tamara simply had cereal to try and stay quiet. As she ate, she wondered who her dorm buddy would be, and the people she would meet...
It was now 7:00 a.m. and Tamara was just getting into her car. She liked to be on time. As she turned the key to start the engine, she waved one last time at her family, then drove off. Tam wouldn't see them for awhile now, she was on her own - Well... sorta.. When she had stopped at a red light her phone went off. She grabbed it and answered the call she was getting.
"Hallo Tam!" The female voice said.
"Hey Tori! What's up?"
"Oh nothing... it's just that... We're roommates!!" The Norwegian female squealed with excitement as she spoke to her friend.
"Awesome! Hey I'm almost there so I'll talk to you then. Ok?"
"Okie dokie, Witness!"
"Oh shut it, Commie..." Tam giggled as she hung up. Well that's great news, she thought. Maybe this year will go well..
