This is an introduction to the story, "Carpe Noctum"

A women runs to the orphanage on a crisp fall night with a newborn baby in her arms. The wind blowing her hair to her face made it hard to get there in time. She had to get there in time. It chased after her. Faster and faster. Almost grasping on to her shirt. "I'm not afraid." the women whispers. "I'm NOT AFRAID". The women stops running. The figure chasing her disintegrated, and she began walking at a normal pace. She arrives at the old orphanage, and pulls out a note. She rings the doorbell, places the baby on the floor and quickly drops the note along with it before running off into the dark.
The note reads: "Millie Marsh. Mother: Beverly Father: Unknown"
