Dean hated magic. He used to love it, until it got his parents killed. For now, he was living in the Harvelle Clan. In each state, there were different Magic Clans. In Kansas, there was the Harvelle Clan. In South Dakota, there was the Singer Clan. In Indiana, there was the Braeden Clan, and so on. He didn't stick with any Clan. Although, now that he was "dating" Jo, the daughter of the Harvelle Clan leader, Ellen, he thought he might stick around. He wasn't really dating her, but they weren't exactly platonic.

Jo was always trying to convince Dean that magic wasn't all bad. She was so cheerful, but he never understood why. To Dean, magic was a curse. A burden. But he knew it was too late to go back. He couldn't change the past, no matter how talented he was. Time spells were forbidden, according to Merlin's Law.

He was walking out in the forest where he spent most of his time. He knew there was someone else there, he could feel it. He knew he wasn't alone. He saw a figure in the distance. He cautiously approached it, only to find it was a man. He'd never seen him before.

"Hello?" Dean called. The man looked at him with the bluest eyes he'd ever seen.

"Hello?" The man responded with a deep, deep voice. Deeper than Morgan Freeman's.

"Who are you?" Dean asked.

"I'm Castiel. And you are?"

"Dean. You a warlock? Or a wizard?"

Castiel shook his head. "No. I'm human. You?"

"Warlock." Dean thought there was something about this Castiel. Something just intrigued him.

"Are you in the Harvelle Clan?" Castiel asked.

"Yeah. You in the Masters Tribe?"

Castiel nodded. "You know, we shouldn't even be talking right now."

"And yet here we are. I think the big feud is kinda stupid anyway."

"Why?"

"I never really wanted to be a warlock. It just happened. My parents kinda forced it on me. That's what got them killed."

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be. So what are you doing way out here?"

"I come here to think. Get away from it all. Magic, Revolution, just reality in general. What about you?"

"Same as you. I hate magic. I'd give anything to be human again."

"Why not just stop using magic?"

Dean smiled. "It's not that simple. Once you start, it's hard to stop. It's like smoking. It works it's way inside your mind and stays there. It drives me nuts."

"I always thought warlocks had it all."

"Yeah, well you thought wrong."

"I need someone like you to talk to."

Dean looked at him. "How about we come back here tomorrow?"

Cas smiled lightly. "Okay."

And that's what they did everyday without fail. The magic man and his mortal.
