I do five sit-ups every morning. I know it doesn't sound like much, but there are only so many times you can hit the snooze button.

I don't despise many things in life.
Okay well, actually that's a lie, I have a whole list. But if I had to name my top five, my alarm clock blaring at 6 o'clock on a Monday morning is definitely up there.
I groaned and rolled over onto my other side, swinging my arm around to hit the snooze button. But, it's Monday and life really hates me. So instead of hitting my alarm, I hit the edge of my water glass, knocking it off the cardboard box I was temporarily using as a nightstand.
I slapped my hand over my forehead. Of course. Out of frustration, I grabbed the still screaming alarm clock and did what any completely sane person would have done.
I chucked it at my door.
I slightly winced at the crashing sound of the damn thing breaking on the ground, followed by heavy footsteps from down the hall. A few seconds later my dad was rushing to the threshold of the door.
"What's going on I heard a crash-" He stopped short of entering my room when he looked down and saw what used to be an alarm clock. He looked back up to me, "I'm not buying any more of these Ellie." He stated, looking very serious about the matter.
My father, the only parent I still had in my life, but that was mostly my fault. My mother left after the accident and we haven't seen her since, which was about 3 months ago. I don't have any siblings either so it's just me and my old man now; which I didn't have a problem with because I'm usually just completely by myself because of dad's new job. He was a cargo ship worker so he was gone a lot on long deliveries.
I sat up on my elbows, "Sorry Dad, I didn't mean to wake you up."
"That's alright Munchkin," he waved me off, "I was getting up anyway to eat breakfast with you before your first day at the new school."
Ah yes, 'the new school'. My three favorite words.
Not really, I hate school with a passion. I didn't use to, school was actually alright for me back at my old town. I had a great group of friends. Or at least I thought I did, but I actually enjoyed going to school for the most part. Not anymore though, and you would think after what happened I would go back to a public school. Or public anywhere for that matter. But here I am, begrudgingly rolling off of the mattress I have on the floor and landing on the ground.
With my face firmly planted on the hardwood floors, I dramatically groaned to try and make a point. That point is not going to school. But my dad wouldn't budge.
He returned my dramatic groan with a very dramatic sigh, "Oh yeah, yeah, whatever," he turned around and started walking down the stairs yelling up to me as he did, "Ellie if your downstairs in 10 minutes I'll make you pancakes for breakfast.'
Pancakes for breakfast.
This echoed in my head for a solid 3-seconds and then I was scrambling up off the floor to the boxes on the floor marked 'clothes'. Obviously, Dad and I just moved because our old town wasn't exactly safe for us anymore, which was also my fault. But, I hadn't really gotten the chance to unpack anything or go shopping for room decor and organizers for the things we could manage to throw in the pickup truck.
I dug around in the few boxes looking for something decent to wear for my first day at a new school. After about 5 minutes I had finally found a nice enough outfit to wear. Really, if the stereotypes for girls and boys weren't the way they were, I more than likely would have just rolled up through the front doors in a hoodie and sweats. But, I would have been considered a slob the second I walked through those doors and it honestly sucks.
