Tobin's POV
"Let's get pissed!" Jane yells as we walk into a bar near our hotel. We all laugh and head to a vacant table near the dance floor. It smells like alcohol and sweat. I look around and it's a pretty hipster bar.
"Ok, I've got first round." Ashlyn yells, trying to be heard over the loud music. We all nod and she heads off to get the first round of drinks with JJ.
"What was the name of this place again?" Jane asks.
"The Powerhouse Inn. Didn't you see the sign?" I tease, Jane rolls her eyes.
"We should come here more often. It's a nice bar." Sonnett says, and we all agree.
"With some nice looking ladies." Pinoe exclaims, lowering her glasses on her nose while looking at some girls on the dance floor. We all laugh and then comes silence as the reason we are here floods our minds.
"What are we gonna do? This whole 'girl from soccer camp' thing is killing Ash." Jane sighs, looking around the table at Emily, Pinoe and I.
"We just need to be here for her when she needs us and distract her from the heartbreak she's feeling." I say, looking towards the bar where I see Ash and JJ returning with our drinks.
"That bartender is not-so-friendly." JJ complains as she hand me my beer. I chuckle and we all raise our drinks.
"Ok, toast. To our college graduation and the draft." Jane says.
"And whatever the future holds." JJ adds, and we all cheers. Pinoe sculls her drink.
"Remind me to never compete with you in a chugging contest." I say, taking a sip of my beer. Pinoe rolls her eyes and winks at a brunette walking by.
"Gotta bounce." Pinoe announces and follows the brunette towards the dance floor. The rest of us laugh and watch her until she's out of sight. We keep talking about the draft and the bittersweet college memories until I realise I've finished my beer.
"I'll get the next round." I announce, getting up.
"I'll give you a hand." Ashlyn offers, following me towards to bar.
"What can I get you girls?" The bartender asks, boredom written all over his face.
"Can I get 5 beers please?" I ask, handing him 30 dollars. He gives me my change and goes to get the drinks.
"Tobin?" Ash says, shocked. She taps my shoulder.
"What?" I ask, turning to face her.
"You know that girl I was telling you about? Her name is Ali?"
"The one that you meet last summer at your soccer camp?"
"Yeah. She just walked in with a bunch of her friends." She says looking at a group of 6 girls. I follow her gaze.
"Oh shit."
"Your beers." The bartender said.
"Thanks." Ash and I say still looking at the girls that just entered the bar. We grab the beers and head back to the table in shock.
"You two look like two deers in the headlights. What happened?" JJ asks, concerned.
"You know Ali?" Ash asks.
"The one from your summer soccer camp last summer?" Sonnett asks, confused.
"She just walked in." I state. Ashlyn looks over towards where Ali is sitting among a group of girls.
"Hey. Woman up!" JJ exclaims, and pats Ash's knee.
"Yeah! Let's show her what she's missing out on!" Jane adds. I look over at the group of girls and I see a pair of eyes looking back at me. She's got caramel brown hair and piercing grey eyes. I quickly look away and try to focus on Ash, but I can feel her staring at me.
"Hey, don't worry about her. Worry about that sexy blonde on the dance floor giving you the do-me eyes." I point out. They all laugh and Ash looks over at the girl.
"Lets dance!" She yells, obviously taking the first 'get out of jail free' card available. Ashlyn pulls JJ and a very drunk Pinoe towards the dance floor.
"You always know what to do, Tobs." Emily slurs. Jane and I chuckle at our light-weight friend.
"What are we gonna do about her?" Jane sighs out as we watch the other three dance.
"I don't know, Campbell, I don't know." I conclude.
"Hey, Tobs. Are you aware of the attractive brown haired girl staring at you from Ali's table?" Sonnett questions.
"Oh, I am very aware of her, Em." I answer, nervously.
"Good, because she's walking over here." Jane states.
"With another attractive brunette, might l add." Emily says, obviously interested in the other girl.
"Great."
