The rope was tight around his neck, yanking and pulling him in various directions. Cadilto struggled to break free but it was futile.
The man pulling him didn't look behind. He was tall, several inches taller than Cadilto. His sleeves were cut off, showing off his muscles. A red bandana was tied around his head.
Cadilto slowly began to tire. His rage melted into fear. Men were scary. They stole and killed and caused havoc. He knew he was next.
A tamed Vicugna walked beside the man. His fur was shadow and well groomed.
The sun had just set beneath the horizon when they arrived at their destination.
A gate with the word FARM above it. The man unlatched the gate and pulled Cadilto in.
The enclosed area was empty except for a woman who approached them.
She walked up to Cadilto. She grabbed him by the jaw. Her nails slowly dug into his flesh. After examining him, she stated, "Crimson fur and strawberry skin. Real beauty. Bring him to his den."
The man hesitated, "What about a name?"
She thought for a moment, "Casanova."
He nodded and dragged Cadilto away.
Casanova! Casa. Nova. The name's Cadilto you beasts, Cadilto thought, But it has a charming ring to it.
Up a small hill there was small square wooden stables. Each were separate with open windows on each side. The dens were lined along a dusty path.
The man lead Cadilto into the den and closed the door. The den was roomy enough with straw covering the ground. Cadilto huddled himself into the corner. A single tear rolled down his face.
'Ooh look at the new guy!' a tamed Vicugna admired from the neighbouring den. This Vicugna had saffron fur and cantaloupe skin. 'What's your name fella?" he asked.
'Cadilto.'
The saffron Vicugna laughed, "No, no, no. Your Alpaca name not your Vicugna name.'
Cadilto was confused.
'You see once a Vicugna is caught, they're given a new name and become Alpacas," the saffron alpaca explained.
'I'll never be an alpaca!' Cadilto jumped to his feet, "You low lying creatures. You eat straight from man's hands. Disgusting!'
'Disgusting? Say that when there's marshmallows in their hands,' the saffron alpaca said, "Name's Remy by the way.'
Cadilto hesitated, 'My name is Casanova.'
'Sick name. Marchioness is a genius,' praised Remy.
'Marchioness? You mean that female human?' asked Casanova.
'Yup. She owns this farm and takes care of us all.' Remy elaborated.
'Remy! Can you shut up? Some of us would like to sleep,' the alpaca on Casanova's other side complained.
Remy rolled his eyes, 'Give me a sec.' Remy lowered his voice, 'That's Yles. Word of advice don't get on his bad side.'
Casanova nodded.
'Well sleep tight,' Remy told him before settling down.
Casanova laid down. His stomach grumbled. He didn't know whether or not to trust Remy. He was strange. This whole place was strange to Casanova. He should of been more cautious earlier. Now he was stuck here, unsure about what would happen. But one thing was for sure, Cadilto was dead and Casanova had been born.
