I Sea a Mermaid

Chapter Sixteen

Bella's POV:

The last thing I remember was being hit by a rock and caught inside a net. When I opened my eyes I was locked down and staring up at a greenish blue ceiling. Where was I?

Suddenly a booming voice rang beside me. "I can't believe this! I was giving pity to a half mer! How disgusting!" Poseidon. Shoot shoot shoot! Fear bubbled inside me.

"You're awake. Finally! I have questions for you, Bella." I gulped.

"Were you always a half mer?" He leaned in to me. "Yes." I said, deciding to talk the truth. He nodded and then slammed his trident down. "I want any trace of half mers killed!" My eyes widened and I spoke up.

"Why?! We're the same as you." He snapped his head to me. "Your parents must've not told you.." I looked at him confused. "Tell me what?"

Fear flashed through his eyes. "Half mers have more power than the king of the sea." My eyes widened. Why had I never known of that?!

"How? I don't have powers!" I said, narrowing my eyes. He snapped his head back to me. "You do but you have not discovered them." He said, slamming his trident on the floor. Two mermen swam in and stopped by him.

"Take her to the dungeons! We must find the other mers!" He yelled. They swam towards me and unlocked my chains. I took this chance and slammed my tail against one of them. He was knocked all the way across the small room and into the rocks.

I could tell he was passed out. The other guard looked at me with fear but went for it anyways. I swung my fist and it landed on his jaw. He swam back and clutched his mouth. I looked to Poseidon and he had his trident positioned towards me.

"Don't make me do it, Bella!" He whispered, powering the dangerous magic. I swam back until I hit the rock wall. He stared at me in fear. Suddenly I saw a flash of yellow and the trident flew out of his hands.

He turned around and gasped. A mermaid who looked exactly like me stared at him. Oh if looks could kill.. She swam at the speed of lightning and knocked him into the rock wall. He passed out from the sudden blow and she turned to me.

"Mom?" I squeaked before feeling myself pass out from shock.

When I opened my eyes I was staring up at my mother's face. She hugged me tight and let out a choked sob. "Oh I've missed you so much, honey!!" She cried and let go.

"We don't have much time. They're looking for us!" She pulled me towards the empty sea and I followed hesitantly.
