Shadow

Prologue

        The night was vast, silent to the little pup, she whimpered wishing her late mother would come back to comfort her. A loud bang startled the pup out of her sulking state of mind into being frightened, alert to the never-ending darkness around her.

        She was shaking so much that she toppled over her tiny paws, as the clashing of metal got louder. Tiny paws hurried and tripped over themselves, while she tried to hide behind a huge tree. But as soon as she got behind the tree a loud boom, with the snapping of wood echoed throughout the forest, the tree crashed to the ground leaving a big trunk still stuck in the ground. She whimpered loudly scared for her life. Suddenly the loud noises had stopped, all to be heard was a big thud. Therapon silence.

      It seemed the world had stopped, with only silence. Scared as she was she popped her head over the tree trunk to see if she was safe. What she saw made it feel as if her heart dropped into the pit of her stomach, blood was gushing from what looked to be a lifeless body, a humaniod demon (a demon that is in a human form with some unhuman features instead of being in its beast form, which is what kind of demon it is or called fullform demon.) stabding over the corpse, holding a blood soaked sword. Realizing she most likely wasn't safe she whined loudly without meaning to, the demons head jerked toward her directions. She froze, terrified her small mind screamed.

   'Its getting closer i need to moves...buts i can't.'

     What seemed to be faster then the speed of light, she was snatched up by the back of her neck, she let out a loud whine than shakely looked at the demon who picked her up. He was tall, he had shaggy longish black hair, black eyes, he wore a full black hamaka and a haori with navy blue designs running threw it. He also had a black sun on his forehead.

   "Where is your mother pup? You are to small to be out here all alone." His voice was deep.

     Her ears flattened as the thought of her mother pasted threw her mind. She was young but she still knew what death was, but she didn't know that it would hurt this much to see someone die.

    She knew she needed to explain all this to him whoever he was, she wasn't scared because if he wanted her dead she would be dead alrwady. She turned into her humanoid form, an started to explain.

   "I is all alone, i is only five year old, my mommy is gone, she will never come back..."

   His eyebrows furrowed in thought, he knew how it felt to lose family, but she was still way to young for this kind of pain.

  "Where is your father?"

   She shrugged. He felt something tug at his heart, this little pup had been threw so much in the very few years of her life.

  "You seem to be the size of a newborn pup. I'm guessing you're a runt."

"I is.."

"Do you have anywhere to go?"

"No...."

    He thought for a minute.
'I can't just leave her all alone here, she will die within a week.'

   After his thought he picked her up in a more comfortable position. He started walking.

  "You will come with me until i find you a better place to stay..." He continued walking as she stayed silent, looking up at him until she fell asleep.

    He looked down at her, basically cradling her like a baby and smiled.

     "What is your name pup?"

   The bext morning she was awakened by that question.

  "I has no name, the village me an my mommy were at wouldn't let her name me because i is half demon."
 
    "So what do you wished to be called?"

  "I don'ts know, why don't you name me?"

    He thought for awhile then said...

   "shadow."

     He knew it was different name, but it was beautiful.

   She giggled at the name, he smiled.
'I don't think I'll be able to give her to someone else, maybe she'll just stay with me.'

   "I will train you to be the smartest, stealthiest, and strongest fox. Your name will be remembered for the rest of time."

   He looked at her, she was adorable, she had black hair that went to her shoulders, blue eyes that seemed to glow neon, she had cute little black fox ears on the top of her head, (she has fox ears instead of demon because she is a half demon.) and a cute little happily wagging fluffy black tail. She wore a very dingy thin kimono. He guessed it use to be white.

   'That'll have to change, I'll have to bring her to a village to be fitted for good, expinsive cloths.'

    "Whats you name?"
She asked pulling him out of his thoughts.

  "It's Kouga."
She only smiled, hugging him tightly, as she giggled. He smiled and continued to walk.
