Chapter Thirty-Four - Count Your Blessings

Start from the beginning

He stared at Bellamy, both of them breathing heavily now. Jack had thrown blankets and coats on both of them, and Murphy felt multiple people hitting the blankets, making sure that they were smothering any possible fire. Apparently, Bellamy's sleeve had nearly been on fire, and Murphy's pant leg almost had been on fire too.

Eve ran up to Murphy, kneeling beside him with a panicked look on her face as she looked him up and down, making sure that nothing was on fire or burned. When she saw he was alright, she wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly.

Murphy hugged her as well, but couldn't help but look over her shoulder at the destruction that the fire had caused. He prayed that no one was left on the station.

He glanced over at Abby, and also couldn't help but smile softly when he saw her hugging Clarke. Both of them had tears in their eyes, and they looked somewhat relieved to see each other. Clarke of course was the lesser happy one, seeing how she had found out that Wells had lied for Abby.

It was finally blissful again, everyone would survive.

But that wouldn't last for long.

Eve sighed softly, letting go of Murphy. He seemed alright, he wasn't burned at all. Not this time.

Everyone had calmed down, and everyone was alright as well. A few people had some minor burns, but everything was okay at that point.

It was Monty that caught Murphy's eye. Eve looked at him as well when she noticed that Murphy almost seemed transfixed. Monty was staring at the station, his lips parted.

"What's wrong Monty?" Eve asked.

"That fire didn't just happen, it was set."

"You mean someone caused the fire?" Jack said, an eyebrow raised.

He nodded slowly. "I just realized it. Someone lit it up, it didn't just start on it's own. It couldn't have."

Raven's eyes widened. "Oh my god, he's right! None of the explosives ever touched the ground, so nothing else would have caused it. Someone must have set it on fire!"

"Yeah. And I think I know who."

Everyone turned towards Adam, who was standing at the tree line. He was sweating, and also breathing heavily. Eve sucked in a breath when she saw his shirt was bloody and sliced, as if someone had cut him with a knife more than just a few times. He had a long chain in his hand, and the chain led behind him. It was so dark, however, that no one could see what was behind him.

"Adam, what happened?"

"She happened." He growled out, before yanking the chain forwards. Anya fell to her knees in front of them all, a cloth in her mouth to gag her with her wrists wrapped together tightly with the chain behind her back.

Anya's hair hung in her face, dried blood and mud causing it to stick together and cling to her forehead. She struggled to stand, and of course, no one went to help her.

Everyone knew who she was, she was the grounder's leader.

She was now trying to get her hands free from the chains, and if looks could kill, they would have dropped dead at that moment.

"Take off the gag." Jack said, grinding his teeth and moving towards one of the trucks.

Eve and Murphy stood up, both of them facing her. Eve was confused, while Murphy had his eyebrows furrowed, and the look on his face suggested he was deep in thought.

Adam loosened the gag, and Anya shook it off, narrowing her eyes at them all.

Jack moved closer to her. "Why did you set the fire?"

"I didn't."

"But someone you know did. You told them to."

"No, I didn't."

James and Lena glanced at each other, before James spoke up. "She's lying."

The side of Anya's mouth went up in a smirk, and she laughed. "They're smart. You should listen to them more often. You could use some of their intelligence."

Jack gritted his teeth, then a thought came to his head and he moved over to her. "You seem a little nervous. You deny everything, that's not like you at all." He moved in front of her, kneeling down to her height. "Speak your mind, Anya."

She glared at him, before clenching her jaws together and hissing through her teeth. "You're monsters."

"How?"

She stared up at him, her arms shaking before she ripped them from the chains, a knife now exposed in her hand.

No one realized it. At least, not until she had implanted it under Jack's ribcage.
