I was never one for telling lies. Even from a young age my mother always pointed out I lived up to my name Amina, which means honest in Arabic. She explained when I broke something and she came running in I would already be in the corner waiting to clean up the mess. As I got older that never really changed much. My mother never heard a single lie exit between my lips and into this world. Naturally this was a good thing because it means my mother could trust me and I could trust her. You see shortly after my third birthday my father fell gravely ill and died a month after so we needed each other. Now naturally you'd think this is a story about how I've been cursed to tell the truth or how I started down a bad path. Well your wrong this story is one hundred percent true.

It all started when I was 11. Me and my mom had moved because she got a new job that paid better money. I agreed to move because my mom seemed overjoyed at the chance of starting over. Besides living somewhere new sounded like a wonderful adventure and I was down for that. When we moved to a small townhouse twenty minutes away from her job and less than five minutes from my school. On my first day of school I meet my best friends Jacob and Sammy. They enjoyed the fact I would never lie to them or betray their trust. I was thirteen when mom met David.

David seemed nice enough at first. He'd bring me books from the book store by his firm. Every Other Weekend he'd take Mom somewhere nice. He helped my mom with almost everything it seemed. They'd been dating for a year when he finally moved  in with us. Shortly after they went on a long trip and my mom came back with a large diamond on her finger. A diamond that I thought meant something good for us. It wasn't long before they got married and we moved again. David's firm offered him an amazing job. I really hated the idea of moving and i expressed this regularly until moving day. Then when we moved things got bad. David started acting different and I started lying. So to anyone wanting a story with bunnies and hearts you may want to leave. Anyone who's still here I welcome you to my book of lies that protected me. This is when I learned honesty isn't the best policy.
