THE SUICIDE OF KIYOKO MATSUMOTO
On February 12, 1933, a 21 year old student from Jissen Girls College in Tokyo committed suicide by jumping in the crater of Mount Mihara, an active volcano on the island of Izu Oshima, Japan. Mount Mihara picked up the new name of "Suicide Point". In 1933, a total of 944 people committed suicide by jumping into the same volcano.
