CHAPTER 3: The DIARY

Start from the beginning

                                   "Juliet Aurelian"

I was about to read someone's personal diary, and if that someone was a female that meant a lot more drama and spicy details. I had already decided that I would return this diary, if there was an address.

And I would apologize for reading it, too.

So, Miss Juliet, here we go!

I turned the page, and my eyes kept staring at the date at the top right corner.

                                                                          MAY 13th, 1789

Just once I want to forget everything, I am tired of thinking what I have to do tomorrow or day after that. Why can't I forget for once that I am Juliet "Aurelien"? I want to be just Juliet, like a free soaring bird. Not tied with the invisible fetters of a family name.

Papa never let me go out alone, even for a while. He says that the people outside would try to harm me for my money. But why would they do that?

Some of them are very nice too, like Abigail. She took care of me, fed me and cheered me up whenever I was sad.

I do love papa, but I feel choked here. I want to see the world.

I would ask Abigail to take me out on my 16th birthday- tomorrow. Papa would not say no to me then.

Connecting stray stars,

Tracing a way out of here.

To the valleys of freedom,

Away from this choking air.

All her stacked coins,

Could not buy her desire.

Of true love's embrace.

And someone real to admire.

All her bright and gold plated hair,

Dreams Entrapped in silken vessel.

Would turn slave of an unknown man,

What would do these treasure and castle?

Her pleas of help locked deep inside,

But her eyes rebel, in full moon nights.

Rescue her from none other than,

Her own blood. Alas. The civil fights!

                                                      -JULIET

May, 1789 meant that even fall of Bastille didn't happen at that time. The diary was about 224 years old.

"Good Lord! I guess, I have to drop the plan of returning it to Juliet."

Reading this diary would mean, knowing the important historical events from an eye witness. In about 2 months, the biggest event that marked the start of French revolution would take place. I wondered what Lucas would say about this. He loved books beyond the ordinary level of craze.
