[A/N] Hi guys! This is, yet again, one of my fanfictions that I probably won't ever finish. Give it a read, though :3
I will put trigger warnings as I go! Feel free to leave if you are sensitive to any of these topics!

  - Stay behind. Don't try to help me, do not leave the hiding place. D'you understand me? - he hastily whispered to me. I opened my mouth to argue, but there was no point, since he immediately cut me off.
  - Don't even think about it. If something happens to me, save yourself. I'll hold them back for long enough. You're gonna be okay. They came here for me, not you. And I can't let you be in even more danger than you already are in, just because of me - he said, dead serious. I nodded.
  - Brendon? - he said, slowly standing up, preparing himself for what could be his end.
  - Hm? - I said, trying to keep calm. I promised him I won't follow him, I won't, I won't...
I saw his lips turn into the infamous lopsided grin of his. His eyes were focused on my face, as if he wanted to absorb enough of me to serve him until we meet again.
  - You are a great person - he said, and turned around.
  He left the hiding place.
I still couldn't get my mind off of the look on his face, the smile that was always comforting me when I'm at my worst. I felt like he was still right there, right in front of me, still staring examiningly.
  But, he wasn't.
I don't know if one or a billion minutes passed like that. I knew I couldn't do anything. But, God, I wish I could've helped. I wish I could've tried. I wish it wasn't meant to be this way.
And then, the shouting. Two unfamiliar voices and one I knew very well. The soft, slightly unfocused one. Like someone snapping you out of a very deep void of thoughts. That's what his voice was like.
  - Well, go on, then! Do it, or are you really too much of a coward to do this? - I heard him say.
  No.
I risked all I had, stood up quicker than I thought was even humanly possible, and ran towards the voices.
  Click.
  Click.
  Boom.
  It was too late.
I couldn't function. He can't be dead. No, no, no, please.
I felt as if I was running for my own life. I knew it was too late. But, this certain part of my brain just couldn't accept it.
  I arrived.
The two murderers were already far, far away, running away from nobody. I had no intention of chasing them. Not after what I saw...
The body of someone I knew so well, held so close... it was limp on the cold linoleum floor, surrounded by a pool of blood. The bitter smell of iron filled my nostrils, but I didn't care.
  This couldn't be happening.
  I couldn't forget the gunshot.
  Click.
  Click.
  Boom.
  And I knew.
  Ryan Ross was dead.
