"Sofie," I breathed out.
I could barely speak. Everything had just turned around for the better.
"Daddy, was this thig in my nose, I don't like it," she said innocently, like nothing had ever happened.
I wasted no time and ran out of the room screaming:
"SHES AWAKE, SHES AWAKE!" I cried.
As soon as I said that, the attention of the doctors turned directly to me. Not far behind them, Shelby came running down the hallway with concerned eyes.
"She's awake! She woke up!" I shouted for joy as tears spilled out of my eyes.
"Oh my gosh," Shelby breathed.
We both ran back into the small hospital room to see her sitting there like nothing had ever happened.
Soon after three doctors came rushing in and were shocked by what they saw.
"What's this thing on my face?" She said, pulling at the oxygen cord attached to her nose.
"No no no!" We all gasped as she tried to pull on it.
"You can't take that off Sofie, it'll hurt you," I tried to explain without her crying.
But, I failed and she began to cry heavily.
"No no don't cry! We just don't want you to get hurt baby. You wanna go home don't you?" Shelby said, rubbing her arm in the process.
"Uh huh. I wanna see Bubbles! He promised me that he would play hide and seek with me!" She huffed, making us all laugh.
"Aw we know, but right now you're hurt, and we don't want you to hurt yourself anymore, Okay?" Dr. Clark said.
"But when! My head hurts!" She cried.
Seeing her awake and suffering was almost worse than seeing her in a coma and not knowing how much pain she was in.
"Where's Mattwo? Is he hurt to?!" She said startled.
"No no! Matthews okay, he's very worried about you, he just left actually," Shelby smiled.
"But is BUBBLES okay?" She questioned.
"Why does she care about Bubbles all of the sudden?" I whispered to Shelby.
"No idea," she responded.
The next day
"Okay Sofie, So were gonna hook you up to the oxygen box so that you can go home later today!" Dr. Clark said
This is the first time Sofie has stood up since the accident, and it hasn't been great. Shelby and I have to hold up her little arms to keep her stable. For the first time in awhile she gets to wear regular clothes.
Shelby and I love to dress her up in little dresses from the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, but today she is wearing pink shorts and a yellow tee shirt due to the oxygen box/cube thang she has to wear.
"Alright are you ready?" The Doctor asked her.
She nodded her head quickly, unaware of the pain she was about to endure.
I held onto her hands tightly, as doctor Clark hooked her up to an IV. For an adult, that was nothing, but for a child of her age, it's like going to hell and back.
She screamed in pain as the shot went deep into her skin. I think her scream could have been heard from Hawaii. She grabbed my hands tightly then ever as tears streamed down her face.
"It's gonna be okay baby," Shelby said, playing with a curl of her hair.
"All done! Now I just have to hook up the oxygen tube to her nose, and- done!" He cheered as the oxygen tube fit her face. He then clipped the oxygen box up to her shorts and then to the long cord that connected to her nasal tube. Even though any parent would hate to see there child like this, it was quite cute on her. Her puffy little Afro stuck out even more from laying in that bed for weeks.
"So how long will she have to have it on again?" Shelby asked.
"Well were gonna renew it for 4 years, so healthcare with cover the costs, and in that time if it gets better,we'll take it off of her completely, but if she hasn't made any progress, then she might have to keep it on for longer," the doctor explained.
Shelby nodded her head quickly.
"Okay I'll leave you guys to get ready for leave," the doctor waved as he walked out of the small hospital room.
"So Sofie, do you know why you have to wear this tube thang?" I asked her calmly.
"Uhhh.... because it make me SPECIAL!!" She exclaimed.
Shelby and I died of laughter at that.
"Well yes, but Sofie, do you know what a car accident is?" Shelby asked.
"It's when two chars go BOOM, CABAM!!" She said, using her hands to show us.
"Yes, But- you know what I think it's better if she doesn't know," I said, looking at Shelby.

We packed up all of Sofie's thing and ours as well to hear back to Neverland. I told them that we didn't need a wheelchair, and that I would just hold her. I can imagine how much paparazzi is gonna be there, and I have no idea what we're gonna do.
"You ready to go?" I ask as we wait in the main floor lobby for the bodyguards to walk in.
The paparazzi is everywhere, as I pictured. It makes me furious that they would come to a hospital of all places just to see me and my wife. Sometimes I wish I was never famous. I've basically dragged Shelby into all of this. But at the same time I don't know what I would do without her. Im thinking way to much into this, aren't I?
"Okay we're ready Mr. Jackson," Bill said as he opened the one of the front doors.
I held Sofie very close to me, as Shelby held onto my shoulder. With three bodyguards in front, and behind us, we ran through the mountains of people until we got to the limo.

Back at Neverland a few hours later
"Shh Michael, do you hear that?" Shelby said as we were watching tv.
"No wait-," I start.
"GO BUBBLES GO!" Sofie screamed as Bubbles came running down the stairs with her on his back.
"What the hell," I sighed with a smile across my face.
Bubbles and Sofie ran all round the kitchen and living room and back upstairs.
"And that's how you know, everything is back to normal," Shelby giggled, as we shared a kiss.
