There was an unspoken rule that Peter made to himself, one which he struggled to abide by and desperately wanted to break.

You were like autumn - a beautiful memory of summer that slowly drained into a lifeless winter, leaving nothing but fragments of the warmth that once consumed every inch of Peter, and for that, you were cruel.

Never were you vindictive or malicious, no you were quite the opposite. There was no word that could encompass how effortlessly gentle you were.

Your laugh was like nectar, but not because of how sweet it sounded to his ears, but how life-giving it was to his soul.

it felt as though the heavens had kissed his skin the first time your fingertips grazed his jaw as you rolled up the hem of his mask.

It was almost painful for him as he struggled to warn you not to pull it any further than his nose - he wanted you to see him, more than anything he just wanted you to see him.

A soft agreement whistles through your teeth as you studied the curve of his lips.

"I wouldn't tell a soul." You murmured, nearly on his lap as you both absentmindedly gravitated toward one another.

"I can't." He breathed, though he so desperately wanted to, taking fistfuls of your nightgown in his hands as if he were grappling with himself not to expose his true identity. "I can't, I can't."

"Okay." You whispered back, settling your thumb on the bow of his lip. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't prod like that."

"No, no. Believe me, I do." He reassured, sitting up just a bit straighter as his fingertips lingered by the hem of his mask. "But I'm afraid, you know, what if I disappoint you?"

"Impossible." You simpered as you let your fingers fall from his. "I feel safe when I'm with you. An-And not because you're Spider-Man, but because," you licked your lips nervously. "But because you listen, and you don't laugh at me or-"

Your ramblings were cut short, breaking apart in your throat before revealing itself in a whimper of rapture. He was hesitant at first, slowly testing out the waters of your lips as he dragged his own back and forth. It was better than how he imagined, and he'd be lying if he said he hadn't daydreamed of this very moment. The mint of your toothpaste mixed with the cherry lip balm you had applied very generously before bed, and though it didn't sound appetizing in the slightest, it was quite possibly the most brilliant taste Peter had ever come in contact with.

Every attempt at breaking apart proved to be quite difficult as there was a need for one another that was making it almost agonizing to separate.

Catching your breath, you let out a few breathy sighs before bringing your lips back to his, this time with more impetuous intensity. Your teeth even knocked into his once or twice, but neither cared - you were much too focused on the feeling of his lips on yours.

As his lip curled as though he were about to protest to the idea of revealing who he truly was to you, he gave in to the part of him that so desperately wanted to be close to you.

There was no way to describe the pressure in his chest, but if he were to try, it rivalled the feeling of jumping into the deep end of the pool but not anticipating how long the journey to the surface would in fact take.

As your fingers reached back up to clutch the side of his face, you froze at the touch of your skin on his - he had revealed himself to you, perhaps in a moment of pure ecstasy, he hadn't felt the anxiety he had been feeling over the past few months.

Leaning back, you took in the miraculous look on his face; lips slightly parted, cheeks flushed with glossed over eyes that paid respect to the bliss that overwhelmed his senses.

"Hi." was all you could stammer out, now ringing the fabric of your nightgown in your hands.

"Hi." he sighed with a small, shy smile - his lips red and ripe like a pomegranate from your kiss.

Taking your lip between your teeth you offered an eager nod, as you brushed his hair to the side where it clung to his forehead.

"It'd be nice not to refer to you as something other than Spider-man." you laughed with nervous excitement.

"Peter." he grinned, falling deeper and deeper in love with you by the second.

"Well Peter," you hummed leaning forward as his arms draped around your waist. "Your secret is safe with me."
