Stuck with me

Prologue

"Honey, can you come downstairs for a sec?"

"Coming!"

I got out of bed and paused the Lego friends episode I was watching. When I got down, the first thing I noticed was there were 2 huge suitcases. I was confused to say the least because I was pretty sure that we weren't planning on going anywhere.

"Oh. Where are we going?"

My parents glanced at each other nervously.

"Um, actually, me and your mum have to go on a business trip to Italy. We'll be back in a week and Madison will be here to look after you until we're back and-"

My dad never got to finish because I stopped listening after he said Italy.

"You're going to Italy?! I've always wanted to go! It's not fair; you get to go see the Colosseum , eat proper pizza and-"

"Talia! It's only a week and we probably won't have time to go to any tourist attractions. Like we said, it's a business trip so it's only work, ok? We promise we'll go to Italy with you some other time."

Reluctantly I nodded and asked them when they were leaving.

"Actually, right now. We only found out about this this morning."

My mood dampened to know that they were leaving so soon but I remembered that they were only gone a week so I wasn't too sad about it.

We all arrived at the airport and as they walked to the check in place, I heard someone call my name.

"Talia!"

I looked back and saw Madison walking towards me. Madison is our neighbour and we are both very close because we've been living next to each other ever since I remember. Madison is six years older than me and since I'm an only child, she's like an older sister to me.

"Hey, Maddy! I can't believe they get to go to Italy of all places!"

"I know right! So unfair! I've heard Italian guys are quite hot too"

"No, silly. Italy is probably the same temperature as England now so that means they are the same temperature as us"

Madison let out a laugh and rolled her eyes.

" Aw, you're so innocent Talia! Please stay like this forever"

Before I could reply, my parents called me over to say goodbye.

" Ok talia we need to go to boarding now. Make sure you behave and listen to Madison ok?"

" Yes mummy I will, don't worry. Bye mummy and bye daddy! I'll miss you and don't forget to get me pizza!"

"Don't worry we won't" they said with a chuckle. " Bye darling, we'll miss you too"

They went to the security checks and out of my line of sight but little did I know, that was the last time I ever saw them.
