1st Pov
I watch my hands weave my hair into a braid, swift fully tying a bow around it. My pale yellow-brown eyes flicker briefly to the picture on the edge of my mirror, me and dad were standing their with mumma, all us smiling, but that was a year ago I'm now six, and we never smile. I guess that was how much of a tole mummas death was.
"Bitch! get down here!" the loud slurred words of my father breaks me out of my thoughts.
I quickly slip on my dress, and white slip on shoes before rushing to meet my father. I stop at the door, a strong smell of alcohol came off it in waves. I can feel his murderous intent through the door, he's mad.
I nervously knock before turning the door knob and swing the door open. I look at the man before me, an badly cut beard and a rough bad boy hair cut. He has the same eyes as me, I hate them, I wish they could change.
"Make me breakfast, or its the whip for you!" he smile maliciously at me, I nod fearfully before dashing away to carry out the chores.
Time Skip
I lay on the bed, it was the afternoon now, dad had drunken himself to sleep, 'I could go outside tonight!' With my mood suddenly brightened I walk to my closet pulling out mothers old cloak. it was an earthy green and smelt of mud and blood, even so I love it.
I grab my leather satchel before opening the front door, my feet feel cold on the stone pavement, glancing down I realise I'm bare foot.' whoops,' I run back in pulling my furred boots on then I sprint out into the streets.
As I see the gates I slow down, careful not to alert the Garrison of my presence, I push myself into the wall, blending in with the shadowy cobble.
As soon as the wind blows, I'm gone, sprinting silently across the pavement.
I step out onto the grass, it's cold dews sticking to my boots. I look back once more before running forwards. No matter how many times I venture out the walls, it never fails to scare me. I've been told for years that the walls protect us, I don't know what from, but it spooked my mum and that's enough to tell me their deadly.
I slow down to a walk before I look up to see clear sky, unlike the cloudy sky of the town, you can see thousands of lights hanging in the sky, I wonder who put them up there? Mum told me it was a man called God, but I never got to meet him.
I miss mum, she used to tell me amazing bedtime stories about outside the walls. Fields of sand, and everlasting pools of water, she made it sound wonderful, there was always a bad guy, she always called him Titan.
He was always tall, and had a smile on his face, and he ate humans, mum was always mad about that, but what I don't understand is why she didn't change it.
I let out a frustrated huff, before I start to climb the trees that tower before me. I stop at a nice thick branch, and start to weave branches apart, and again I look at the sky. I smile wistfully before I lie down and fall into the welcoming arms of sleep.

It was 5 in the evening, mummy and I had just finished making bread when a dull thud was heard banging against the kitchen window.
"Mummy, what was that?" she turned and smiled, "I'm guessing it's a bird".
We walking out to the backyard and started to search through the grass near the window. I was the one who found it.
It was a small, and brown speckled, it little beak a pastel yellow. But it's wing was curled around its body dryly. The only movement was its body slowly lifting up slowly, then sinking down, a wave of feathers.
"Mum! I found it" I push the bird towards her, anxious for the fragile creature I had found.
Mum examined it before she revealed it wing was broken, "but do not worry we'll take care of it".
The next few weeks I feed it food and watched the bird, I had named it Nut, flap it's wings restlessly.
I remember the day Nut was released. He was pestering me for his favourite treat, nuts.
"Here you go Nut," he chirped in happiness flapping his wings twice before hopping down from my shoulder, preferring the table to eat.
He flapped his wings!
While he ate I was bouncing happily, waiting for mum to come back. When she did I jumped in front of her.
"Mum! I think Nuts all better now!" she chuckled at my infusiasm before she walked over to the happy bird.
"Is that right Nut, did you stay here just so you could eat my nuts?" she said humorously.
Nut chirped at her, "he agrees to it, he's guilty!" I laugh at mums behaviour and by the time I had picked myself off the floor, mum had taken off Nuts bandages and looked at his wing.
"Well he does look alright".
"Does that mean I can take him to the backyard to set him free?" I ask anxiously. Mum nods her head and I pick Nut up and take him outside.
"Did you hear that Nut, your free!" I then let him go, and watched him flap his wing experimentally before spreading his wings to fly.
"Look at those wings of freedom he has, but I must say, I have better ones".
I smile at mums statement, her wings are her best memories.

The sound of a heart greets my ears, I can see darkness, but it's not a warm darkness it's a cold one. I crack my eye open, to be greeted by the bright rays of sunshine. Wait a minute! Crap it's the afternoon I must have slept in...
It's him.
Well multiple of him, there's hundreds of Titan running to the walls! These are even more detailed then mum said, their skinny ribs, long limbs, and a never ending smile.
Their entering the walls, but how! It was then I see the gate, broken and the plumes of smoke gathering over the walls. Dust and dirt had flown into the sky, making thick copper clouds.
It was then I saw it, a creature with no skin, towering over the walls, steam erupting from its mouth.
It was also when I realised, it was gone, the place I was raised, my father, my bed, the bread I ate this morning, though stale it was pleasant, the bird that I helped with mum.
It was all gone.
