Ben is riding the bus on his way home. He doesn't have a car, didn't want one either. He always thought that practise makes perfect. So he would need to drive his car every day to become good at it. Now a Bus driver does this every day. He knows his bus and what it's capable of. That is a comforting thought no? He scratches his left ear and drops his earpiece out. Before it took its leap of faith Ben was able to catch it mid-air and plugs it back in his ear. The soundwaves continued to vibrate against his eardrum. He listens to mix of heavy metal and emo. In all the chaos of the music he finds peace. It is raining outside and the raindrops tick against the window. Ben tries to count them. Impossible of course. The raindrops merge together on the window and slide away. The bus stops, one more stop and then he can go home. The doors open and three girls enter the bus. They are soaking wet but giggling. One of the girls with brown hair looks at Ben when she passes him to sit in the back of the bus. She smiles at him and Ben blushes. He makes an awkward smile, then the girl giggled and sits down. Ben takes another look at the girls. They all had different clothes but they wear the same shoes. Not just any shoes, white ones. Ben starts deducting, they must work at a hospital or something. His attention goes to the screen on the bus. One minute till his station. Ben knows that the bus is on time because every time the bus is one minute away it passes a streetlight with flickering light in it. He stands up and carefully walks towards the front of the bus. He practised this. When he first start riding the bus he didn't come of his seat until the bus was absolutely stopped. Now he can walk slowly to the front. When he arrives the bus driver looks at him. The driver had a beard that made him look very old. He starts humming when the station comes in view. He always does that, it became a bit like an inside joke between him and ben. The bus stopped and the doors open. Ben takes one look back in the bus. The girl with the brown hair smiles at him. He awkwardly waves at her and steps of the bus. He goes under the bus shelter and opens his backpack. He takes a small umbrella out of it and opens it. He looks at the crack in the glass that was made last night. How did he know it was last night? Well yesterday it wasn't there yet. Ben does his backpack back on and starts walking. Soon it would stop raining but with his laptop in his backpack he doesn't want to take the risk. A bit further down the street two girls walk hand in hand, one his holding an umbrella and the other some kind of Chinese food. Ben takes a left and enters his flat. He closes his umbrella. Takes the stairs to his floor and walks down the hallway to his door. By his door he tries to insert his key very carefully. He almost made no sound but the door of his neighbour slams open. A woman hangs have way through her doorway. She is naked and looks at Ben with dirty smile. She was older and always tried to seduce him. Ben doesn't know why, he just tries to leave and come home as silent as possible so she doesn't hear him. Ben ignores her and enters his apartment. As soon as he set a foot in a dog runs towards him and starts barking. Ben closes the door and kneels down and hugs the dog. Though the dog was quite big and probably just as tall as him, Ben always like sitting down with him. Ben smiles and pets him. On the collar of the dog hangs a nametag. It reads Bagel. Bagel is Ben's best friend and roommate. As you might have already guessed Ben doesn't talk much. But with Bagel he doesn't have to. In a weird way they understand each other.
