Summer 2005

"Chris wait up you know I can't run with this thing on!" A young girl no older than 8 wearing an ankle brace shouted as she ran after her friend.

"Oh right I'm sorry Lexi!" Exclaimed Chris as he rushed over to Lexi and turned his back towards her "Here I'll give you a ride to the park, it'll be faster"

Lexi smiled as she climbed onto his back and wrapped her arms around his neck tightly. Chris smiled and took off running in the direction of the park, Lexi squealing from how fast he was running.

Fall 2008

"Hey Lexi I want to ask you something" Chris stated as he laid on the grass next to his best friend.

"What is it Chris?"

"What do you want to be when you're older?"

"I don't know I haven't thought about it" Lexi hummed as she sat up "Maybe a music producer or a graphic artist"

"That's cool. I'd want to be an animal trainer or maybe a kangaroo" Chris replied as he looked up at Lexi who was twiddling with her bracelet.

"You can't be a kangaroo Chris!" Lexi laughed as she lightly punched Chris' shoulder before laying back down.

Spring 2010

"Chris wait!" Lexi shouted as she ran towards the fleeting teen.

"Lex? What are you doing here I thought you had a performance for your dance company" Chris questioned as he set his duffle bag down next to him.

"Screw some stupid performance, I came here to say one last goodbye" Lexi stated as she hugged Chris who quickly returned it, his cheek heating up slightly.

"This isn't a goodbye Lex, it's a see you later. You'll always be my best friend so why would we be saying goodbye?"

"Okay, but promise me one thing before you go"

"Anything"

"Don't forget about me when you become famous, and I want you to have this" Lexi states as she pulled off her silver necklace and put it around Chris' neck.

"But this is your's I cant take this" Chris commented as he tried taking the necklace off.

"I want you to have it, a way for you to remember all of our crazy adventures and memories" Lexi stated as she smiled up at him "Well I guess this is see you later then, bye Chris"

Lexi lightly pecked Chris' cheek and walked away, too afraid to let him see the tears that threatened to spill over.

Little did he know he'd break that promise and his best friend's heart
