‘’ Kill a demon today and face the devil tomorrow’’ he thought
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Allie sat on a park bench watching the sun dissolve away behind its horizon. She couldn’t get pass the beauty of Apple Shore. She sighed from her car as she drove by the local beach, the boardwalk, brick pathway and now she was at the park she couldn’t help but smile. She wished that every day was like spending a minute or two in Apple Shore. Apple Shores was a paradise. The only place she found her piece of mind especially with Adam by her side. When she came home to Adam all the pressures of her work went spiraling down her imaginary sink. Two weeks had passed and she spent every awaking minute with Adam when she excluded her hectic work hours. The only thing Adam needed to do was officially ask her to move in but there was no rush. She was happy and totally believed that their relationship could go nowhere but up according to Justin Bieber. No worries, no doubts and certainly no worthy competition. Life was good.
She took a deep breath and pulled her hair behind her ears. The evening was mastered by cool sea breezes that sent tiny sensation up and down her spine. If it hadn’t been work she’d take a long stroll down the beach her feet in the sand and its grain between her toes. She eased her feet from her heels and patiently waited on her client. The magazine’s spring issue was coming up and since her spring design her being featured she was in charge of the photo shoot. Allie decided to take a different approach. All the issues that she remembered had computerized backgrounds and the models were never outdoors. She planned to take her opportunity and make the best of it thus she wanted the models out and enjoy themselves, falling in love the spring and transferring that to her readers. Apple Shores had come through once more. Other than the view of the beach, the park was filled with lush green trees, gardens with colorful flowers, a fountains, sprinklers, swings, pathway made from exquisite craved stone; everything that brought the concept of spring even to those who weren’t aware of what it was. Exactly what her designs transcended.
‘’ Damn its wonderful here’’ Allie exhaled
‘’ I know right, my boyfriend has to move heaven and earth to get me away from here, trust me it doesn’t work’’ a familiar voice said from the bench next to Allie’s.
‘’It couldn’t be…….could it?’’
Allie was frozen. Suddenly it seemed a cold gust of air had passed by and shaken her world. Her thoughts became disoriented and she lost her ability to focus. The scenery had somehow changed; all that was warm and lovely had suddenly become cold and callous. Her mouth felt like the Sahara and a lump seemed to be blocking her windpipe. Allie couldn’t breathe properly and to tell the truth she felt better if she’d collapsed than deal with what was unfolding right in front of her. In her mind she would rather to be struck in a coma or deal with amnesia. Allie tried to move and to confirm what she had heard and whom she had heard it from. It couldn’t be!!
She averted her eyes in the direction of the voice. At that moment the only thing that moved was her eyes. Allie watched carefully, trying to control her breathing and the palpitation of her heart.
It couldn’t be, not right now. Not when my life was finally going right.
Allie watched as the female balanced her phone between her left ear and her shoulder to answer an incoming call.
‘’Hello…., I know I know…..A, you really don’t want to know the answer to that …ok ‘’ she smiled ‘’ I am at the park, nursing ma rose garden…well was, now am taking my gloves off’’
