Two Is Better Than One

Adam pushed the lunch tray to Ria with their usually items. Two bottles of water and a blueberry muffin for Ria. He would've gotten her more but Ria wasn't in the mood to eat. Adam learned the art of Ria's moods / behavioural patterns. She had been upset and had been avoiding him all day. Being the understanding boyfriend he was, he let her be. Lately she had been zooming out of his conversation and for that matter, Ria felt distance. Adam would never complain, he loved all sides of Ria. Each experience thought him to love her even more in ways that she would appreciate.

Lunch was the only time they had within school hours.

A smile appeared a crossed his face. Ria was finally his. Her beauty was his and the first and only kisses that touched her soft lips were his. He felt proud that his dreams for them were slowly manifesting themselves. They belonged like halves of a heart, they had become one. There was no Adam without Ria. Hopefully Adam believed it was the same for her.

" Thanks" she mumbled as she furiously scribbled in a notepad.

Adam took his usual seat next to her.

" You need to eat Ria" he slowly pulled the pen away from her fingers.

" No A, I can't I have to finish this for Physics next period. Since Lenny is a no show" she gripped the pen before he could take it entirely from her hand.

" Come on Ria you have been ignoring me all day." he stared at her.

" I am sorry Adam. Just stop whining k!!"

Adam bit his lips. He didn't like the tone in her voice or the seriousness in her eyes.

" what's wrong Ri?" he asked but she refused to answer.

"Ria!" he raised his voice catching the attention of few girls at table close to them.

"Ri I am sorry please. Talk to me." Adam regretted raising his voice at her

" nothing" alone tear trickled down her left cheek. Adam stopped it with his index finger and shuffled close to give Ria comfort.

" hey gang!!" Allie shouted as she took a seat at the table her friends following shortly.

Adam and Allie were the most popular individuals at LeDuke Academy. Their table was strategically placed in the centre of the cafeteria and everyone else flocked around it. Ria was the only junior at the table.

" Adam guess what happen to Jake" she continuously tug at his shoulder until Adam took his eyes off Ria.

" he missed" Allie's eyes sparked.

" really" Adam hated when he was caught between Ria and Allie. Though he would always choose Ria without a doubt he hated when Allie felt left out.

He turned in his seat to Allie and as mean to hide Ria. No one was allowed to see his baby down and hurting.

" what wrong with her" Allie turned her eyes to Ria.

" she had Lenny for her partner"

He answered truthful, knowing Allie wouldn't be satisfied with " nothing"

" that's what you get Ria when you make late Lenny your partner"

The table had erupted in laughter and Adam didn't realised that the jocks had taken their seat. Before he could avert his eyes back to Ria, she had packed her bag and walked away from the table.
