True Believer
I began to wonder
And disbelieve
In Easter Bunnies
And Tooth-fairies
But this Christmas Eve
One of Santa's reindeers
Did drop
Into my backyard
Kerplop!
It made such and awful sound
It just laid there a moment
On the ground
I grabbed my lantern
To light my way
Wondering what
to do or say
"Are you hurt?"
I began to worry
But the reindeer
shook it's head no.
I was surprised
it did not scurry.
"I'll get you something to eat."
I ran back inside
To fetch him a treat
A bushel of apples
Oh so sweet.
He ate until he had his fill
I thought he was big
But when he stood
He became bigger still
The night air held a sudden chill
But then the reindeer nuzzled me
I wrapped my arms around him
Before he could flee.
I watched as he decided
To take off and fly
Forever now a believer
I waved good-bye.
