A few days later
Me and Claire haven't spoke really she was still mad at me. I've tried to speak to her but she would avoid me. But today I'm going to talk to her but I'll have to wait until after the pep rally I couldn't find her all day and I know I'll see her here since she's the captain of the cheerleading team. Everyone gathered into the gym and I sat in the bleachers with my class. I looked around for her but didn't see her there was still too many people coming in.
"Hey Bruno!" Ryan and Justin seen me and carefully made their way to sit next to me.
"What up my boy!" Justin said
"You looking for Claire?" Ryan said
"Yep."
"She's still avoiding you?"
"Yep."
They didn't say anything else they knew they went too far last time.
"Aloha!" Our principle said into the microphone making everyone quiet down. "Alright now find your seats so we can start this. Now we want everyone to get nice and loud once we welcome our football team to support them on their first game. Right?!" Everyone began cheering. "Alright now to help us welcome in the boys our cheerleaders have put together a special dance. So give it up for the Theodore cheerleading squad!" He said as he ran off.
The girls ran in some doing flips as we cheered I sat straight up looking for her and I seen her. She smiled and waved she didn't even look at me. But then my eyes looked over past all the girls and I see her. Evangeline.
She sat across the gym on the other bleachers reading a book. She clearly showed no interest in being here as everyone was clapping and she just looked down continued reading as she was alone in here. When did she even start school here? She just looked...beautiful.
The girls stop dancing and the football team came in one by one. They did a few games but I couldn't help to constantly look back over to Evangeline. Once it was over everyone was allowed on the gym floor for a few minutes until the last bell rung to go home. The sound of the coach's whistle snapped me back from my thoughts.
"I'll see you guys later." I said to the guys as I grabbed my bag and quickly made it down to the floor. I pushed pass a few people and saw Claire.
"Claire!" I screamed but it was took loud. I squeezed through and finally made it to her. Once I did she was hugging a football player and not just any football player her ex, Blake. "Claire!" I said he let go of her and she looked at me scared.
"What the hell is this?"
"Bruno it's not like that I was just telling him good luck on the game tonight."
"I don't care you you don't put your hands on each other! Or get anywhere near each other!"
"Look we are just friends!"
"Claire you know how I feel about him!"
"Look dude it's not like that." Blake said as he grabbed my shoulder.
"Don't touch me man!" I said slapping his hand off.
"Bruno!"
"Claire let's go will talk about this somewhere else." I grabbed her hand but she pulled away.
"Oh now you want to make time for me!"
"Claire this isn't the place." I said realizing some people were looking.
"No! I'm tired of you putting everything before me until I do something you don't like you to get your attention!"
"Claire." I said trying to keep cool.
"Look man it's best if you leave." Blake said holding her.
"This isn't even any of your business so why the hell are you still here!" I said pushing him.
"Because I still care about Claire!" He said as he got close to me. We were both in each other faces.
"Well she don't want your ass since she came to me after she left you almost two years ago! So move on because she already has!"
"Bruno stop!" Claire said as she tried to pull me away.
"Hey B come on this isn't the place." I heard Ryan said as him and Justin got in between us as two other football players came up.
"You better watch what you say, before you get hurt." Blake said
"Or what! What are you going to do!" I said pushing Ryan still trying to get close to him but Claire was pushing him back.
"Why don't you ask your girl what we did last night!"
"Blake!" Claire screamed. I stopped looking at her. She turned to look at me with tears in her eyes. "I'm so sorry."
My anger took over me and moved pass everyone tackling Blake to the ground. We both threw punches as we wrestled on the ground while Justin and Ryan handled his friends. The teachers came in pulling us apart. I was still mad trying to get to her I accidentally hit the teacher making him push me down on the ground.
"Peter enough!" I looked up and seen Evangeline walk past us. She looked to me then looked away as she continued walking.
A few hours later
I sat in the nurses office with Ryan and Justin. We held ice packs to our bruised up faces waiting for my mom to get me.
"Hernandez? Your mom is here." We all stood up walking out in the office and I seen her. She let out a deep breath and turned around, we followed her to the car knowing she was mad.
The car ride was silent we didn't have any music so it was even more awkward. We dropped off the guys and headed home. I was waiting for her to say something but still nothing. We parked the car and sat there for a second.
"Mom? Please don't be mad." I finally said.
"Please tell me that girl had nothing to do with this." I didn't say anything but look down still tasting the blood from my lip. "Me and your father have taught you better than this. This isn't you."
"Mom, I'm sorry."
"Please tell me why are you with her?"
"She cheated on me! There are you happy? Now you guys don't have to worry about her anymore!" I grabbed my things quickly heading inside.
"No wait Bruno!" My mom said as she tried to chase after me but I quickly went in my room and cried. I gave this girl everything and she just stabs me in the back.
