Skyla and Chloe set all of the kids up with makeshift beds after introducing them to Sean and AJ. They all thanked the girls and went to sleep. She and Skyla went up to the roof to look out of the next eight hours, while the boys slept. They heard a loud moan, and the girls both shared the same expression and rolled their eyes. Sometimes the boys would have a makeout session while they got a break. Chloe lay down and Skyla found a comfortable position to keep watch from. For a while, the girls talked about what they should do with the new addition to their group. Once they came to a decision, Chloe fell asleep and Skyla kept watch for the remainder of the night.
The next morning she and Chloe decided to bring their plan into action. After spending some time out scouting the field, they approached the sleeping kids.
"Hey, time to wake up!" Chloe shouted. The sound of groaning filled the air as most of them got up and rubbed their eyes as they looked at her.
"What's going on?" The boy named Max asked groggily as he sat up.
"We've decided to train you all in combat and shooting," Skyla grinned, looking at Joe.
"Hey, I said I was sorry! Plus, my aim is usually way better than that," he defended, looking indifferent.
"Sure it is. Anyway, get up and ready, we're heading out in five," Chloe responded as she pulled out her katanas and walked to the gun area with Skyla.
"Dibs!" lucas said to Max.
"What? No! You can't call dibs on a person, you weirdo!" Max said
"Fine by me, I got dibs on the tall one!" Tommy said in response, ignoring Max completely.
"Gross. You do know they are way older than you and way out of your league," the girl, Sammy, said.
"Agreed." Max said as they all walked outside to meet Chloe and Skyla. Once they got outside they found that Chloe had tied up about a dozen zombies to a pull and removed their lower jaws.
"Dude, what?" Joe said.
"We figured we'd give you all practice with the real things, but these ones can't bite you," Skyla told him.
"You two caught this many?" Max asked, obviously impressed.
"Yup, you're welcome!" Skyla said, with a large smile.
"Calm down there, we both know I caught the majority of them," Chloe reminded her.
Skyla responded with rolling her eyes. "Whatever, I'd like to see you try shooting of their jaws without killing them," she countered, and Chloe grinned.
"Let's get started. People who want to learn hand-to-hand combat come with me, and those who need target practice--" everyone shot a look to an offended looking Joe, "--go with Skyla," Chloe announced. The group separated and began with their preferred fighting methods.

The group trained until the girls were satisfied with their progress, which ended up taking five hours. Of all the kids, the girls noticed that Max had the most amount of potential. After the training, Chloe noticed that he looked uncomfortable, and made eye contact with Skyla, nodding her head in Max's direction. Skyla glanced at him, nodded, and herded the rest of the group inside to prepare for food.
"Max?" Chloe asked after everyone was out of hearing range. "You okay?"
He shook his head in dismissal. "It's just... Well, I just realized, my birthday was two weeks ago. I'm not seventeen anymore." He looked as if he was going to cry, but he shook the feeling away. "Today would have been my little sister's birthday. She would have been four."
