Have you ever had the feeling that no matter what you do you can never escape the shadows that follow you? that no matter how hard you push and shove you still have that uncontrollable weight on your shoulders. I feel like that everyday, I come from a wealthy family that everyone knows and loves. My mother Amelia is a internationally famous fashion designer, my father Michael is a world renowned business man, every investment he makes is an extremely good one, he handles everything under the sun. My oldest brother, Jeremy pursued his career as a musician and is playing for famous symphonic bands all over the world, my oldest sister Eliza is a famous model, we all knew she would be one it's not big shocker since she has always had the "look" model agencies die for, next up is my other sister Laura, she got accepted into the best medical school (the acceptance rate is 10% by the way, crazy right?) this summer and is preparing for her assessment test. Then there's me, Ambreen Coleman. I'm going to Glasse Academy, a private school for bratty rich kids which sucks for me since every one goes there. I start in a couple weeks and never have I been so miserable. Last but not least there's our baby brother Jake, he barely started walking and is the life of the house you could say, everyone says he gets his brains from Audrey which is understandable he's to smart for his own good. The Colemans' are considered the "perfect and richest" family to date, we've been on countless magazines, tv shows, etc. Can this school year be as lowkey and chill as possible please?
Early Sunday morning in the Coleman mansion is always the crazy one, everyone is going over schedules while setting up for breakfast and is hectic as hectic can be,
"Jeremy, Eliza, what are your schedules? I need all of you home by tonight for your fathers congratulations' gala" my mother says.
Jeremy is the first to reply; "Uhh.. I don't know mom we have our concert in a month or so and our composer is an ass and in all honesty seems like he doesn't even know what he's doing"
My mother sneers at him, "Jeremy your language", we all snicker and giggle. She continues, "Eliza? Laura? What about you girls?"
"I'm headed to a couple photoshoots and fittings for the summer runway show coming up next month. If everything runs smoothly then I should be home by 5-5:30" Eliza said.
Laura looked down at her plate and checked her phone, "You already know I'm studying for my assessment test so I'm gonna head downtown for a bit to the café really quick, and come back home and study. As long as I got at least ten hours of study time I'm all yours."
I looked down at my plate and fiddled around with the butter on my waffles, I looked around the table and everyone was together yet they seemed like they were in their own world. Ever since I was born I took after all my siblings, my "looks" came from Eliza, my interest in music and my extreme talent in it came from Jeremy and my constant 4.0 came from Laura.. I didn't have anything I could call my own.. I didn't have a talent of my own that set me apart from my family. I looked down.. wondering.. What else do I have to offer? What is MY talent? What am I good at and me alone?
"Am....? Ambre...? AMBREEN!!" I quickly snapped back to my senses and everyone was staring at me in confusion.
"Huh? What?" I looked back and forth between everyone not knowing what had happened when I zoned out.
"Honey I asked you what you wanted to do today before the gala? Would you like to look for a new dress? new shoes?" my father said, "If you want to go I can ask Andrew to drive you and Kelsie to accompany too."
I looked up at him, not knowing what to say, I simply nodded in response.
"Speak up dear.. we won't be able to understand you if you only nod" mother plighted.
