The Olden

View vivid the olden decades distant,

Day, night, afternoon delight marathon.

Throbbing, pulsing, moistened passion instant,

 Around entwined inside, love built upon.

Then reluctant return, real life intrudes;

Quick kiss, catch you later, rueful discern.

Forget spontaneous- planned interludes;

Children need raising, our living must earn.

Now the rat race is over, my lover,

Years wore down the body, never the heart.

Your weight comforts, shields me with warm cover.

Shaven bristled, Old Spice scented sweetheart.

 Pearl Buck wrote of love firmly beholden;

 Long love gleam golden gifted the olden.
